I'm seriously considering moving up to a 450 (YZ450F in particular) and would like to take some of the power out of it to make it a little more manageable. Thinking a heavier fly wheel weight, but would also like to hear some ideas other people have. Sprocket change and ideas of tooth sprockets to use? Would like to hear all ideas. Thanks!

Just stay off the throttle. You don't have to use all the power. There is no answer to remove power. Everything in this sport is to gain power. Maybe the answer is a YZ250F, or a YZ250.

I'm a slow vet rider and went several years without riding much at all. I picked up a super clean, low hour 08 kx 450 and after a couple rides I loved it. I just ride a gear higher everywhere on the track than the faster guys do. I've never felt like my bike was just going to crawl out from under me when I do a corner or jump in say 3rd where the young fellas would be screamin in 2nd. The 450's are powerfull, but if you ride them with some sinse they are smooth IMO

Ride a gear higher or change the final gearing. Example if stock is 13/50 try going to a 14/50.

Or ride a 500AF smoker and then get back on the 450. It will feel much milder and easier to ride. :o)

step 1: remove gas cap

step 2: roll yz250f under gas cap and tighten

Use a WR450 stock exhaust. Don't uncork it.
