As soon as he lost visual contact with RV there was nowhere to rush anymore. Lap times dropped by 2-3 instantly.Blush Sad

He's the only one able to match the two Ryan's pace at any time in the race. Yeah maybe he got tired. Who the fuck cares, barcia, canard, etc all cant even come close to stewarts speed. He's a winner in my book.

What I mean is, it hasn't been "COW" this year... which is what everyone has been saying he needed to do for years.

Edit: Ha! Wiegant just said this on the broadcast. You're welcome Jason! lol

I think there are a couple of factors. The Ryans are just on a different planet. Without them he would have won and his wins started vanishing once they joined the 450 class. Second, I think he could either push and wreck trying to keep up or ride safely to a third place finish. This would show Suzuki he can finish some races and a series and make their sponsor relationships better. Stewart finishing top 5 consistently pays more bills than Stewart wrecking and being injured for several races.

I just gotta say kudos to Stewart for accepting that he needs to ride within his comfort zone and work on his technique. Also it was good to hear him accepting responsibility for the bike changes. And Dawg, yes it is tough to accept Stewart not being a dominating rider. Hopefully we can see another JS7 and Reed battle this coming SX season.

I thought he was looking good in the first moto and might have something for the Ryans.

All year, it looked like his bike was hucking and bucking into corners and today it didn't seem to be doing it.
At one point, I thought he was going to hold RV off.

Wtf!? Getting third behind Ryan's is a victory.

Good riding by Stewart two races in a row and no crashes. That's huge! And at least he has a sniff of those two guys.

if you ask me, nobody is faster then stewart if he goes all out. Problem is anymore when he does that he crashes 50% of the time. Better to get third then to push it to keep up with the ryans and crash. Solid ride JS7, way to go.

What is up with his knee? I have not heard anyone talk about it since supercross and if so I missed it. Is it still hurt or what? I would have to think the knee thing has to have effected his outdoor season some.

He said his knee is fine. (Fine being relative, to how MXers always have some kind of current or old injury that they're dealing with.

As far as moto two, he said they made a change to the front end and went the wrong direction.

The knee injury was reported to not have been as serious as originally thought, I heard that from one of the announcers while watching one of the last few Supercross practice sessions. They discussed it and said that is what they were told. Judging by his race speed, some of the leg twists his knee has held up to, and how fast he climbed up a berm to get back on his bike after a crash a few weeks ago, I'd say the knee is fine. The Ryan's are just on another level right now. Except for those two, James is beating everybody else by +20-30 seconds a moto.

I think it's a combination of the Ryans just being at the very top of their game and James is not in top shape.

Bubba just seemed to catch a lot of resistance the second half of the first moto. Dunno bout the second moto but probly same deal. I was standing on the fence line of HP hill cheering dude on and saw him get super sideways on the top of the hill where the gravity kind of drops off. Seemed like he was making a charge back at the Ryan's then that happened and he backed it of just a hair for a half a lap maybe?

Then Idk if it was the same lap or whatever but he hit neutral rolling into the whoops from the inside and lost like 5 bike lengths on villo in just the whoops. I felt bad for the dude cause right when that was happening villo was passing like 5 lappers at the best point of the track to pass and JS had to deal w/ em in the later parts where he seemed to lose a bit of time too.

I wish I had a speedometer to clock the riders going up HP hill cause I'm pretty sure there was one lap there where JS went like 5MPH faster than anyone all day. Shit was wild. Musquin had the smoothest line up those rollers on the hill all day. Dude was styling up those things. Dunno how fast it was but it seemed efficient as far as saving energy.

I think he definitely has the speed, but he said at the start of the year he wanted a solid season, which he is doing.... so only time will tell for next year if he steps it up ect

well if he 'dropped anchor' as you say and finished 3rd...what happened to the other 39 'pros' out there...guess they must really have something wrong...or they just suck that bad? come on bro...

the only speculation I will make is that you must be joking...

I think he's just surprised to see guys pull away from Stewart like that. It's been happening all season and I will admit it's kind of strange to me too, but it's the changing of the guard and it was bound to happen sooner or later.

If he didn't break out on his own thinking it was all him and kept Aldon he'd be dominating today. He's got the greatest natural talent on a dirtbike.

It's funny, I keep reading these excuses about James Stewart that he's riding hurt of if he had kept Aldon Baker he'd be Dominating or that he's not the same James Stewart as he was back in 2008 or 2009. Ya know what, you take the Ryans out of this Championship and everyone would be saying the Old Bubba is back and riding faster than ever, since he's beating 4th place by a considerable gap. Amazing how people can't watch Ryan Villopoto and accept that he's clearly raised the Bar and the Fastest guy on a Dirt bike. The Difference between James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto is that when James Stewart tries to ride in that zone RV's racing at right now, he had a 50/50 chance of having a huge crash, RV on the other hand races at that speed and keeps it on two wheels and doesn't crash, it makes me nervous watching him, but some how he keeps it upright and he doesn't get rattled under pressure like James use to seem like he did when Ricky Carmichael would pressure him.

whatever it is, racing is just more enjoyable with him out there. whatching bubba ride is alsome 1st place or 15th. dude makes riding look so much fun!

He's been racing pro since the 2002 season. He's not in his prime and the other two are. It's still a thing to watch him ride.

In the press conference, he said they are just extremely talented and he has no physical excuses. I'm sure he motivated to beat them, but he's clearly in a different place and focused on finishing.

When exactly did James Stewart get out of his Prime, the Ryans have been Dominating Supercross and Motocross for the last 4 years and I think James Stewart is 27, so are you trying to tell me he fell out of his Prime when he was 23. Accept it, RV and RD are simply are the two new fast guys who've raised the bar of how fast a Dirt bike can be ridden and still keep it on two wheels

How boring would it be if we didn't have faster new kids to challenge and replace the old guard?
