Ya watched it last night, pretty bad ass!

Guess it's the original vid, or in part, of the RJ video from back in the day... Cool!

" Some of the kids winning titles today weren't even born when this video was made. And yet, DeCoster is STILL the man."

Yeah, Decosters own guy Dungey was most likely not even born when this video was shot.

Cool video

I agree..... the video says February 1989. By then, RJ would be wearing JT Racing, riding with #1, and on an '89 CR.

It just amazes me how much the sport has changed. You think you would see any of the top riders doing motos on a natural hard packed track in the hills?

Just listening to Lunnis and Arnold talking like asking if they had a counter sprocket and they didn't have one. Also it was cool listening to Rick talk to the guys and he knew a fair amount about what the materials were and how trick some stuff is. I think most of the riders in the last 10 years or so could care less about that stuff.

Ya, that pretty much sucked...Tony worked his ASS off for nearly 2 years uploading those videos...basically documenting our sport in a labor of love. Then some greedy basdards forced youtube to take them down. Angry We need an "Off Shore Dump"...

Me too. One of the best riding spots in Southern California. I never made it out there during the week to see the MX pros practicing, but I did see Dean Sundhal one Saturday afternoon on the track opposite the hill where the box van is parked in this video. I was ripping around the track on my RM80 at what I thought was crazy speeds until I saw Dean on the opposite hill gaining on me fast on his quad. That dude absolutely hauled ass!

That place was the best. I purposely went to grossmont college in la mesa / el cajon in 1990 so I could go riding there. I went there almost every day and would see every privateer and some factory guys all at randon times. There is nothing like going up and down some of those hills and cliffs. It was rough as hell, hard as cement and all whooped out. Hardly ever went on the same track or trail because there were so many options.
It was also quite peaceful because it was so large and almost remote. Occasionally see illegals that just crossed the border running for their freedom too.
All houses now.
I bet Regis188 and Chris Wheeler have some awesome stories of that place too.

Video brings back some serious memories... must've parked in that exact spot hundreds of times and could vividly remember all of the lines and most of the bumps on the track RJ was riding. I was hoping they would head over to "Bear Killer" or the "Punch Bowl" to hit some of the cliffs but oh well, that was still a very cool flashback!
