How do you think the Dunge' will respond?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the FIRST time Dungey has been in a huge points "hole", in either Supercross or Motocross?

James gave everyone A1 one year and still won by winning as much as possible. RV's been there as well, and responds similarly. By grinding out WINS to climb into and control of the championship.

I don't think the strategy should be wait and see if RV crashes/DNF's points away on his own, as his individual moto tally score versus the Dunge is way to lopsided for that to be even a consideration. He's(RV) racing really smart and fast right now.

Winning outright from here on would seem to be the ONLY way to race IMO! It's time to dig deeper than he ever has if he wants it. Still, a lil' "badluck" might be needed from RV even with him winning outright. Which is a huge task.

So, what'll it be... BALLS to the WALLS, or stay with the program? Will he change it up or deviate? Discuss...

Whilst I agree he's got nothing to lose now, I do think he's been hanging it out already... Since about round 3, he's been hitting the ground occasionally and if anything, RV has only had one fall and a few bad starts...

Dunge has hit the ground a few times trying to go faster... Which I applaud!

You're prolly right about that Crush, it's just that Dungey style of "hanging it out" STILL has sooo much smoothness and control Wink

One thing's for certain, he better be spending this weekend off break purrfecting his starts!!! That will be VITAL! hahahha

Dunge will start out about 4th or 5th and work up to second. That'll be the race.

Even if Dungey hangs it out and go balls to the wall I don't think he will be able to out run VP. I think the only way other than hoping VP has some bad luck and a few DNFs is to give VP some bad luck and put him on the ground but I don't think Dungey has it in him.

It's like 34 points or something isn't it?

RV needs a dnf or a shocker somewhere, a dnf being more likely I guess... He's too good to just mud it up.

Dungey is great when he's in 2nd chasing, he's totally capable of shaving those times down and closing a gap bit by bit, a lot of guys don't have that ability, but that's just a horrible place to come from each time... especially against a guy who just goes batshit crazy to the front every time,

RV might be the most explosive rider of all time...

one thing for sure. i think RD will go down in history as one of the most effortless (looking) fast riders in the sport. RV looks aggressive the whole time he's clicking off laps...RD doesn't but yet is closing the gap sometimes...and usually taking very different lines while doing it. gotta give him credit, he has the speed, it just takes him a bit during the sprint time (first couple laps) of the moto.

I do believe its a 42 point deficit. I like them both and just want to see good racing. Once before we almost had a dream team available for the mxdn but RC fucked up his shoulder (It would have been RC, JS, and RV). This years team of RV,RD, and ET may be as close as we ever get to a dream team again. I just hope the racing stays close everyone stays health for that final race in Germany..

There are 10 motos left. Even if Dungey won all 10 and RV got 2nd, that would only be 30 points off a 42 point lead. It is going to take some thing catastrophic to RV like at least one DNF for this to be close-which could happen.

The single most effective method of predicting future behavior is by looking at past behavior. Therefore, I expect Dungey to haul ass, ride smart, demonstrate other-worldly fitness, and never give up.

Question... has RV ever had a DNF, In motocross? I can't think of any... maybe on the 250f?

He's going to go back and regroup and then from there he will probably keep moving forward.

Plus, put his head down and keep moving forward, continue to improve the set up and give it up to the man upstairs!

I know his motor blew up in 2006 at Washougal in the first moto. In 08 he won 19 of 24 with 2 DNFs which I believe were both mechanical.

I don't see Mike Williamson's 450 having any mechanical DNF's. That bike is and has been perfect for a long, long time.

Dungey's only hope to win this Championship is he has to bank on either a mechanical or Villopoto crashing, because he AIN'T got the outright speed and aggression to beat Ryan Villopoto for the Championship. He's a Great rider, but he's just a notch or two below RV when it comes to sheer speed. Riders like Poto only come along once in awhile and Dominate MX and SX like he does. The last one was Carmichael.

He popped a radiator at Unadilla 06...

Did he finish both motos at Hangtown 09?

I think against Townley he dopped a moto somewhere too...

The opener that year was at Glen Helen, which RV won. But he then badly injured his knee (I think it was) in practice and so missed the rest of the season.

Yep, Southwick 07.

I don't think he's ever suffered a mechanical DNF on the 450 or in fact failed to finish a race in MX. Pretty amazing if true. But then again, up until now he's only completed 1 full 450 National season (2011) - which is even more remarkable really. All due to either SX or practice injuries.

Ah, I stand corrected.

I feel RV has stepped up since Kawi changed of chassis so I would not take any risk anymore (podium is ok), take some holidays now, then start to do a ton of testing for A1 ASAP.
