the wind out of yourself and DIDN'T lay there thinking "I'm gonna die...I'm gonna fucking die"? I know I have and the last thing on my mind...at least before I could catch my first breath was remounting the scooter and moving forward again. Dungey did just that...got back on and started moving forward waaay before he could even breathe in. That is one bad mutha.

No crap. And the joyride he took while he was catching his breath was fast enough that he didn't even lose a position. I just watched Southwick from last year and I was reminded of why I'm a Dungey fan. He just doesn't quit. . . Ever. You can beat him to the ground and he just gets right back up and keeps on pinning it. I hope he wins Southwick this year after having two of the weirdest races his last two outings there.

Sunday, June 2nd @ Race Mile 427 of the 2013 Baja 500...While "Post Running" (Testing a new motor & trying to get the area "In & Out of Ensenada" down to a science):

Tumbled over the edge of a 13 ft Down-Hill drop-off (4 mtrs according to my GPS/DTS) when I cross-rutted going over the top...all the waaaay down...

"Oh, this is gonna Suck!"

Thump...wait for it... "Smack!" the bike came and got me in the back...

You try to "jump up"; but, you crawl up...try to stand & you realize, "Man, I need to get some air in my lungs; but, W T F?!" Damn. Just like you said, you just wanna get back on the damn bike and GO! However, it's all you can do to get on the bike and kinda "roll"...It's 3 weeks later & my ribs still hurt!

So, yes, I hear ya.

RD is gonna have to show us more of this "Hanging it OUT!" of he truly wants this Title!

Totally impressed with his aggressiveness the 2nd moto. He really seemed to be pushing early in the race for a change.

If he really did mount the scooter before he even fought his breath that is crazy. Tough mf'er.

Get the wind knocked out of you...just breath through your nose. Works every time. The trick is believing it works. I think he believed.

I couldn't help but LMFAO at that video....... Been there, done that.... more times than I care to think about. Glad to know WE ALL make that stupid fucking noise. Having done it numerous time I can say that, even though I know I just got the wind knocked out of me it still freaks me out every time. Like THIS time it won't come back in time.....LOL

You know whats even better, collapsing both lungs at the same time and the only thing coming out of your nose and mouth is blood. After about 2 minutes or so of not breathing at all you realize that you're pretty much dead and that's when you lose consciousness. The rest of your day is pretty much just a blur.......fun stuff.

The pro level is different , but I can't understand why more people don't wear the rxr chest protector. It actually reduces impact, and has saved me from getting the wind knocked out.

Yep and he didn't even lose a position. Says a lot about just how far he and RV were ahead of the 3rd place guy.

The death moan haha. Some of these guys are tough as fucking nails and will ride thru anything. Others, not so much, and that's fine because I can fully relate to that. Just an observation.

I knocked the wind out myself one sunday and had a collapsed lung the next morning. Two day in the hospital Doc say good to go. Four day latter collapsed again. Had to have some serious surgery to repair the lung. I was 18yr old at the time(1980) when all this happened. Yes I have the wind knocked out my sails. I still cannot find the boat.

Scary feeling. Dunno how it feels in the Pro-class, and getting KO. But the last crash I had was in a race 2011 in the US. Hit my head, cracked the visor, but didn't KO (thank you Shoei?), but the usual, with diaphragma impact, lost some air, find myself on the back next to the track. Had some pain in my hip right away after I was able to breath again, but the body check on the ground, showed I could move my whole body including the hip, I figure I had no spinal injury (which was my only concern), just the pain or some pressure feeling in the thigh, but I was able to stand up. I notice the hip was working, so I figure no bones broken.

The bike was still on the track, a bit stressful, since right after the "major" table top, and they had to let the C-class start right after us with full gate as well, so for me to stand any chance to score any points in B, I had to run like crazy to fetch my bike, I notice the left leg was a bit dysfunctional, and limped but kept running in fear of getting hit by the coming full gate. While running I heard the start, my visor was hanging, struggled to mount my bike because of the increasing pain, or just some loss of function, and all of a sudden all the spodes were all around me because the damn banger didn't start right away. But I was so full on adrenalin, saw my potential trophy vanish, so I didn't care, I felt so angry, I was in some "war mode". Managed to start it up, was about mid pack in in C-class, and climbed up to sixth in B. I was so pissed. Then entered second moto, the pain now was pretty present in my thigh, had some swelling going on as well, and with a duct tejped visor/helmet ended second in heat two, after a lame first half lap, because some fear, hesitation that went away pretty quick, got a fifth overall (lame fifth place trophy that I kept anyway). My thigh later that evening looked pretty goofy, and wasn't able to sleep on that side for weeks, and still after two years I have a lump after the hematoma.

Seems if nothing major is broken, we don't get KO, adrenaline really makes us continue. Didn't ride for weeks, but had this proud "war wound" stupid feeling. I know this story doesn't really qualify, and this story doesn't impress my wife either, but nothing in me at that point was set on crying for mommy, and part of me feel, I think I know the feeling, some semper fi BS...

I can't even remember the last time I won the second moto of a pro AMA National after knocking the wind out of myself, much less remounting and getting a 2nd place while not being able to breathe.

But, for some reason, I remember finishing most nationals out of breath...just towards mid pack.

Oh yeah.....I don't think anyone could argue that RD aint a tough SOB. I never did see the wreck itself , but I know it knocked the wind out of him and he cruised for about a lap before he started to hammer again. Determination is all I can say.

Yeah one time at LACR I swapped out in this rough section and hit my head really hard after cartwheeling. I got up and finished the moto, then 10 minutes later at the truck I had blurred vision and puked several times, it sucked.
