De Reuver will be a minute down to Stewart at the end but it might spice up the Short - Ferry battle for second place.

Other than that there is no 450 Pro class so De Reuver is guaranteed a top 4 finish.
Privateers are taking top 6 all year long already.

Sad but true you make the rest of us look stupid also, please stop now. Not all Americans or moto lovers think like this Marc, we welcome the competition to come over here and mix it up with our guys. Good luck and have fun.

I'm looking forward to seeing Marc in action, and think it's cool that he's coming over here. In some of the comments that I heard at the post-race press conference, I think the top riders in the the MX1 class are looking forward to seeing Marc, too. Wink

I'm not sure if the '06 MXoN was the last time that Marc saw James in action, but I'd guess he may go home understanding why a few of us have repeatedly said that the last time James was at Matterly Basin, he looked nothing like the JS that we've seen here.

As far as Southwick, Townley told me last year that it's very different from some of the Euro sand tracks in that is has a harder base to it.

It's like Deets says: just appreciate it. At least it gives us something to look forward to in this otherwise boring runaway season.

Thanks man. That is what I talk about. I don't come to beat anyone, I come to have a good time and hope to make a good result. I never said I was gonna beat anybody or something. I don't run my mouth, my results speak for me...

Stewart is the new RC; you can doubt him, but it will only be to your downfall. James is the fastest rider on the planet at the moment and I don't think anyone can or will beat him in the next few years. He is too good. I mean really, he is running 3 seconds a lap faster than the next guy. And the next guy is unbelievably good!

American's are fast in America and Euro's are fast in europe. That is why Bubba hasn't won a race in Europe on the two occasions he's been here. If it rains in September, and going by the speed Cody Cooper showed against him in the rain a month ago, then he won't win in Doningston either. On home soil thought James Stewart is the king.

RC was also much slower in europe than at home, but he was so good he could still win in europe.

No. Stewie can't be beat unless he gets pressured, bike blows up or BL wont let go of his nads.

Two of those three things may happen at the wick. You choose.

Why not just appreciate the fact that someone is willing to come over in the middle of their season and that he may give some of the riders here a run for their money. I hope he does well so maybe we'll have some others give it a try, especially since half the factory riders here seem to be injured. At least it gives us something to look forward to in this otherwise boring runaway season. Will he beat Stewart? Probably not, but at least I'll be listening on Sunday to see who he can beat. Enjoy the races for what they are and who cares who is faster as long as its good.

Stewart is faster in his own country? No way that is a shock! every rider is faster in their own country!!! - thats where they are most comfortable with their surroundings and the tracks... thats why there is a world championship in the first palce- so riders have to ride tracks in different countries so no-one has a major home country advantage then you see who the best is. Bubba is the fastest rider in the world in his own country - but does that mean he could win a World GP title? I dont know....

Hey all,
I have been reading on this forum for several weeks now and i must say i like it a lot. A lot of guys on here seem very mature and are big fans of motocross, as well in the USA as in Europe.
Ofcourse, like on every other forum, there are people that have different ideas on things, but ok...

First i want to say that i think it's great that DeReuver is going to join in the Southwick event. I wish him all the best. It won't be easy but i'm sure that if the track is rough enough DeReuver will be up there with the best. I don't really like the title of this thread tho... "Stewart vs De Reuver"... Marc won't be coming to the USA in order to beat James. Marc just wants to give it his best shot and we will see where he ends. Not to many other european riders have the guts to go and try racing in the USA. But also... not to many american riders seem to have the guts to come over and race in Europe either.

I read some crap about the Stewart vs Everts race at the mxdn 2006 in this thread as well. It has nothing to do with De Reuver riding in Southwick but i would like to have my say on that subject as well. Some people still seem to be hiding behind the "team excuse". Everybody who was there could see that Stewart got defeated. Stewart tried to keep up but he just couldn't. If you were there you would know. The expression on his face, his laptimes, how he was riding, everything.. He tried but Everts was faster period. If you could not see that you a. don't know a thing about motocross or b. are just to immature and still cannot face the fact that your idol is not unbeatable.
I read something about someone saying that he did not jump the uphill triple... noone was... it was not as fast. Some guys jumped it a few times and then stopped because they noticed that it was slower then not jumping it.
I do however admit that Stewart did not seem to be his usual self that day. I was disapointed to see him ride. I thought he was faster. When i saw him on tele he looked faster anyway. Maybe he was injured, maybe he had a bad day, i don't know. But just don't give me the crap that he let Everts take the inidividual victory because he didn't. He gave it his best shot and he lost.

Now i hope we can let this behind us and focus on the upcoming race. At the moment Stewart is, without a doubt, the fastest guy on the planet. On an american track i don't see DeReuver or any other rider beating him so he will prob take the win. I hope Marc can finish on the podium. That will be a great result for him i think.

It is great that Marc has the guts to do this. And even if some of you on this board are right and the level in the USA is higher then level in Europe then Marc maybe won't finish as high as we hope but i still am convinced that Marc is a lot faster then anybody else here on this board.

"Some people still seem to be hiding behind the "team excuse". Hey, if it was good enough for Everts in 2003. . .

I agree that DeReuver deserves a lot of credit for mixing his schedule up to make this race, and fans everywhere ought to credit that to him. I'm not sure where the guts to go over to Europe is on point in any way. The schedule here is already intense, with few breaks that would allow it. Maybe after SX in the break before the Nationals as a tune up, but then you're putting yourself at risk for a race that doesn't matter to you but does to everyone else there racing. I don't think you're going to see someone in a championship contending position at any point in the season in either series do a swap like this; there's too much to lose. That's not a "guts" issue. That's a "smarts" issue.

Credit Honda for supporting Marc, too.

If you're talking about "guts" to do the GP's, there's nothing stopping a GP team or the promoter from putting together a plan that makes going to the GP more sense to the rider than staying and racing SX and MX in the US.

I agree with most of your post. However, James is not the new RC. To do that he would need to ride the outdoors for another 9 years and never lose a title.

Everts in 2003 ? Against RC ? I have no problem admitting that RC was stronger then Everts. I was there in 2003 as well and i am 100% convinced that RC was the best of the 2. Everts did everything he could in that semi final but RC came out on top. I'm not sure if Everts really tried to win in the final because the difference between RC and Everts was in that final so much bigger then in that semi final, but even if Everts tried to win he would not have done it. RC was the best that day. Just like Everts was better then James in 2006 in Matterly Basin.

When i talk about guts of american riders coming over to europe i don't mean an entire series but i mean a single race, just like Marc is going to do now.
Everybody knows RC.. the goat... the greatest of all time.. he won everything that he could win. But... according to me 1 thing is missing on his curriculum. The GP of Namur. One of the most challenging and dangerous tracks out there. Every single time Stefan Everts entered that race he won. The promoters of the GP in Namur asked RC if he was going to join. Even Everts welcomed him. Everts really wanted to know if he had a chance against RC on his favorite track. The citadel in Namur. Why did RC never took up that challenge ? I'm sure he could've beaten Everts. After all, he was the goat. But why did he never came over and did that race ?
Reed entered a race in Namur.. 2001 mx of nations. I will never forgetwhat Reed said after his race. Nothing lol.. he was speechless :D

Lets all hope the race is a good one, and that the gp rider is feeling strong. I wish we had more races that combined all world wide riders, much like motogp street bike racing does.

A true premier class.

Also, I hope southwick is not groomed at all, and gets the roughest it can possibly be, which from what I hear, can be pretty damn rough.

It sounds like every euro feels american tracks are smooth...and while this year and last year they may have been smoothign them out, I think its stupid to think just because there is an ocean between us, that tracks there or tracks here get rougher. Dirt is dirt, it gets rough.

Speaking of rough, Millville was apparently the roughest yet, and it sounded like every rider really liked that. Its not like American riders shy away from rough tracks...the mud, now thats another story.

So here is wishful thinking that everything goes well for the gp rider, lets hope he has a strong showing.

Well, Everts claimed in 2003 it was too bad he had to race for the team. That comment played a role in a US team not coming the following year when other premier US riders like Windham and Stewart would not commit and Carmichael determined to stay and begin his Suzuki transition rather than go with a second tier team and have it implied again that he won the motos only because other non-US riders were holding back on team strategy.

Everts comment in 2003 was the exact comment Stewart got damned for in 2006. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

It's a reality that the objective at the MXoN is to win as a team. Everts deserves all the respect in the world for his skill and his career. Good for him that he won out on his last race before retirement. Good for him that YS decided to elevate the moto winners to a new status of recognition for that race. His team lost, though. Stewart's team won.

Why would James want to downgrade from the US Nationals to the GP's? Maybe when his career is winding down and he's not a top rider anymore in the premier series he'll fly across the pond for some easier prey?

I saw him enough times on both sides of the Atlantic to see he was quicker in American than he was in europe.

Same with Stewart, he looked slow in England in 2006 and if it rains this year he will also look slow, he said that himself recently. Believe me, if it rains at the MXoN, America will not win. That track will get so slippery they won't know which way the euro's are racing. Euro's love mud, just like the kiwis do and that is whyt Cooper had something for Bubba in that mud race.

Yanks love full throttle, euro's love throttle control.

And fortunately the yank press jumps on Everts and we jumped on Stewart, because at the end of the day RC was quicker in 03 and Everts in 06

Geoff, you could take away some of beatings you get here by learning when to sprinkle in a few, "In my opinions..." Smile

Sometimes when you state stuff as facts, it sounds funny. Like me telling you what's going to happen at a GP...or who's going to win.

You know what IS really cool? Old school BMX shots...of guys like Joel Smets. Smile
