Me and my dad just finished restoring this bike. My dad always raced 500 class and has a fully restored 83 cr480 upstairs in our bonus room and just looking at it always caught my and I started to like old vintage bikes. I found this bike on craigslist and bought it for 300 dollars. I wish I had a picture of the bike when I first bought it. It had been sitting in a barn for years. The crank was locked frame was old and rusty and it actually had yamaha forks and front rim. It was one hell of a restore and after 4 months and a lot of work she is finally finished.

The bike has a brand new crank and piston and sleeve. The bottom end had every bearing replaced. I rebuilt the motor and it is currently dry and I dont have any plan on starting the bike. The cone pipe was built by a guy we found on a vintage forum.

We took all the original rusted bolts and had them acid dipped and nickel coated and they came out looking brand new.

Bolt on a 86 cylinder and head big power increase.Ron's works bike from mid year on used a Pre-production 86 engine it was as fast as the works engine.

Also use 86 forks the first year for the cartridge fork.

Job well done... I had an 85 CR125, and I loved every minute on it. Great project you and your dad did. Enjoy it ... great way to preserve MX history.

Great looking bike.

Now, go fix the front brake hose routing. It goes between the wheel and the fork. And put on a front number plate.

LOL my dad had just finished putting it together last week. Good eye I will have to call him to tell him. I currently have the number plate im getting ron lechien to sign it this week at the world vet.

Definitely a sweet bike. I love seeing a nicely done resto.When you see The Dogger, tell him some guy in Texas needs him to autograph a One Ind. Lechien Replica helmet for his moto mancave. I could ship it to him with a return slip in the box. Thanks.

Cartridge forks only on the '86 CR250 and 500, not on the 125

Great looking CR's! What type of finish do you have on the forks? It looks just like the finish Honda used on their works bikes of that era.

npp, neals power pipes can also make those cone pipes, as well as scalvini if you have one to copy, and Rich at Dyno port mite do one too

Thanks Will check them all out .. the 84 has the ATAC and I have been told it is better with out it and also it is better with it.. any thoughts , The other thing I am trying to figure out is what carburetor I should run with the MUGEN cylinder on the 84 cr125.

I am running the stock one now with stock jetting mixture looks fine but not sure if I need more air flow,, The MUGEN cylinder comes with the REED intake from a cr250 cast into it so I needed to use a step down rubber to connect to the stock carb...

I was going to try the 1985 cr125 carb PJ flat slide.
