I am asking a question here, not making a statement. What do you guys think the future holds for this team? I know anything posted here is guessing and speculation, just wondering what your thoughts are though. From my un-trained eye he has been riding at 70% since getting his knee worked on. He hasn't seemed to do well on the Honda this year and from what I have read, his relationship with Honda isn't rosey.
My guess is he will sunset his career with Yamaha next year, back hungry and healthy and refreshed with a new bike, I am sticking to that. BUT, I am more wondering what you guys think beyond 2014. We all know that motocross teams are not profitable and take a lot of time and dedication. Does Chad just sit there and spend his savings funding an empty bucket after retirement?

but i cant see him riding much longer , and as a huge fan that was one of my main reasons in going to a SX in person this year and going to an autograph signing at bob cycle supply in minnesota , because im guessing my chances to watch him race are dwindling .. im not bagging on him tho he has had an awsome career and if he hung it up know he still is awsome!
That being said i hope im wrong and he finds rejuvination like he has in the past , and millsaps did this year and k dub did a few years ago..

I can see Reed and TwoTwo closing the curtains after outdoors.
It would be cool if MX team ownership was a smart business and his move to create his own team was great timing with lots of financial benefits, but I believe the timing is quite opposite. I am a realist, I apologize if what I am discussing is construed as negative.

So does that make RC and Carey dumb. I would assume that a man that has put his own money where his mouth is a true a sign of a guy with massive nuts or potential to be even better off.
He has earnt what he has and I wish him well in whatever endevour he takes.
Could he afford wilson on his team?
I'm not saying he lies in bed at night worrying about it, but it's just one more thing to distract him from riding and training.
He has been building a brand with his race team for the past few years; a merchandise brand. Once he gets a second rider and retires, everything will be fine for him. There is no reason that motocross teams can't be successful; the ones that aren't do a shitty job building their brands and/or overextend their resources on many bikes and riders.
Additionally, while Reed may be no spring chicken anymore, he has been battling knee issues and is likely not able to train like he normally would. Even if Reed is "only" a top 5 guy now with the emergence of all the recent depth in the 450 class, his brand is still strong as one of the last "old guys" in the class.
Some could say that Stewart is also an "old guy" of the 450 class, but Stewart hardly has a brand. Stewart is also trying to start a brand with his clothing line.
Bottom line is that Reed is building a much stronger brand for his future than RC, MC, Emig, Windham, etc. Reed is going to reap the same benefits after his career that these guys have (TV gigs, riding schools, etc) AND he will have his 22 brand to go with it.
i tend to think guys like him and Rc and a few others could get more big sponsors than even they think , if they were to get personally involved in doing so.. Or should i say more personally involved
I say either he switchs to a brand next year that he can make the front end work or he folds the team. Can he bring in anybody else that will draw sponsership money better than himself? Dean Wilson couldnt bring in any money for Team Jeff Ward.
But don't worry, I'll let him know at Hangtown that you said his problem is the airforks and the fact that his bike has no front end feel. Thanks for the tip
