I am a huge fan of both the Ryans, but I am biased toward RV because we are both from the NW. They both rode a fantastic race and showed each other respect after. Dungey ALWAYS steps up his game at his hometown races, and I think it speaks well of him.

To anyone who thinks RV needs to defend finishing 2nd by .9 seconds after leading 17 laps and winning the last 5 in a row-he doesn't.

To anyone who thinks RD's win needs to be end zone spiked and rubbed in anyone's face-it doesn't. Ryan has shown how fast he is over the years and NO ONE should be surprised when he wins.

They are both as fast as blazes and have great respect toward each other, which is a great thing to be able to see as a fan of either or both.

I hear this message board is childs play compared to the stick and ball boards.

RV and RD both have it going on which is a good thing because the shit was getting boring as phuck.

As pretty much stated several times over, but RV is smart and could win out if he wanted, but he knows he doesn't have to which is where his strategy comes in to play. I personally would like to see Davi get him a championship, but i don't see that happening because i don't see RV finishing anything less then 2nd..Just my .02cents but racing is a sport and strategy definitely plays its roll.

There , I said it uncle....and I aint even related to him.

I would say it was smart racing by both RD and RV last night.

If by chance RV crashes in one of the next few races and lo and behold he loses the title by 3 points do you think he'll look back at this race and think "I should a beat RD that night...damn"??
Yep,it all counts and you never know what's gonna happen in the next race

Any racer knows when you ease off you're often just as or more than likely to make mistakes, but IMO RV didn't back off

RV certainly didn't let Dungey have it,he played cat and mouse, which is dangerous, clearly with the intention of getting back into the lead,he wanted it

When in the heat of battle it's very hard to let it go,RV wanted it for sure Wink

i was there , i live in mn , i am a fan of both Ryans , they are both awsome riders and great champions ,
but i agree with Uncle , dungey was on and riding great , but in the heat of the battle imo villopoto held back just a little vs if he was 10 points behind , and righfully so .. still it was a great race and lots of fun to watch , and who knows perhaps if the big point lead wasnt there maybe one or both would have crashed and handed the win to millsaps , one of those things we will never know , but i think , the dunge will get another win or to and villopoto will and should , stay away from him Smile
. maybe the championship will be wrapped up by vegas and hopefully then villopodium will show us all whats up and hang it all out in vegas !!

This thread is corny as hell. RV got run down straight up. Yeah of course RV is always thinking of the big picture, you dont win all the championships he has without being savy. But on the flip side RV doesnt give away race wins either, EVER. You're his Uncle, no shame in being a homer.

At which stage did RV decide to go into Championship mode? On the start line? Before RD freight trained up on RV's ass or after RD freight trained up on RV's ass?

Someone needs to make a account called uncleof5 and start posting shit like this. I agree with whoever said this is an embarrassment to RV. RV himself didn't make any excuses for getting second, whether he let Dungey by or not. I certainly don't think he needs his uncle to start make them for him.

In 2005 and 2006 Ricky Carmichael won the supercross championships with out winning any of the last 5 races. Does anyone
think he could have won any of those races or was the Championship more important then the win. RV1 needs only to finish 4th
or better in the last 3 races to win the Championship. Does it make since to let someone by or fight to the end at every race. I
am not saying he didn't try his hardest to win this last weekend, but don't you think it would have been the smart choice to not
duke it out when a mistake could cost you a championship. Just my .02 cents worth. GoRV1!Woohoo
Excellent post my man. I think RC definitely didn't just let those races go without a fight. If you remember back in 2003, the same thing happened when Chad when undefeated the last 6 races. Just watch the race from Dallas that year and you'll see that Ricky wanted that top spot. But RC was working his butt off to try to stay ahead of him. I do think the Dunge was for sure faster this weekend, but Villo was not going to settle for 2nd if he knew he had a chance of getting him back. Winning just makes you even more hungry and 2nd is a first loser to these guys. Even in the final stretch of the championship, he doesn't work that way. He's so much like Carmichael in that he's just a machine and will always go for it. At New Orleans last year after he clinched the title, he absolutely decimated everyone. Granted, most of the field was out with injuries, but you wouldn't know he had already wrapped the thing up at the 5TH TO LAST ROUND. And of course at A1 this year, he was charging in 16th without googles, a glove, and had a bloody finger. Whenever RV steps onto the track, he's in full on beast mode. As the stakes continue to rise, just winning races becomes just as important as championships, and that's something that's changed alot over the past 15 or 20 years, and Villo is only proving that. I mean, we may never know if he actually does go into safety mode, but my prediction is no. Regardless, I wish you and the rest of the Villopoto family all the best in taking yet another of the greatest motorcycle trophies man can claim.

Thank you for answering the question. Smile I don't really know what frame of mind Ryan is in at this point, but I plan on asking
him this very question. I hope it is like you say and its not in him to settle, but mid way through the season he was talking
about taking a 2nd or a 3rd if that is what the race dictates. I hope he will be in full beast mode for the rest of the season and
wins out, but I think he will be happy with what ever it takes to win the championship. Thank you for your well wishes. Looking
forward to watching him live in Seattle. GO RV1!

Where did he make an excuse? I don't see one. He said RD ran a great race and deserved the win. Some of you "conspiracy theorists" should take a step back and read a post for what it is. Of course he's going to stick up for RV.........why the hell wouldn't he? You think he roots for other riders to beat him?

Some of you whiny little bitches need to think if you were related to a top rider......wouldn't you cheering them on as well? Some of you guys that don't like RV because he's been kicking ass and taking names , come on here and try little personal attacks on Uncle....because he is related to RV. Which is about the stupidest fucking thing I can think of.

Grow up and cheer on your own favorite rider.

Let Uncle cheer for Ryan all he wants......he's entitled to. You guys sound like a bunch of jealous little school girls.

By Uncleof bringing up Carmichael not winning those last rounds suggests that he might not have had to push,RV is in a similar position now, which is the comparison, even if he doesn't actually spell it out and that's gonna cause some Vital backlash,it's just how it is

Its a dodgy thread, not helped at all by who the OP is,if it was somsomeone else or posted it before Dungey tucked RV up at the last round, things wouldn't be quite so bad

To me, RV was caught by the faster rider. He made a judgement call by not holding it on when he got passed.

I don't think he had Dungeys number the other night, but I am sure he could have pushed a little harder to fight for it. So to me, when the pass happened RV went into championship mode and didn't let the red mist take over. It could have been a battle to the end but it wasn't and didn't need to be either. RD is turning it on too late and RV just needs to cruise to the finish line now. He would be stupid if he done anything bar that.

Keep safe at the start and run in the top 3 clinches it.

RD needed this form/setup 3-4 rounds ago. But I think he is going to be a beast in the outdoors this year Wink . Can't wait for the outdoors. Going to be some good racing this year.

I'm with you guys 100% i also think RD not only deserved the win.....but just plain beat RV....pure and simple. I think RV is probably the most dominant rider on the planet right now , but there are certain nights that some other dude is just going to "feel it".....and it's going to be his night no matter what.

Kinda like that other round where RD had to go to the LCQ because of his blown rear shock....and then went down in the first corner. He came back and squeaked it into the main......lined up and won the damn main! The guy was on a mission that night!

I hope ( for our sakes ).....that guys keep stepping up to the plate like RD just did and start giving RV fits out there. I don't want to see a runaway for the title. In fact.....I hate to say this , but I hope RV has a couple crappy races in a row to make Vegas interesting.

Wheres the excuse?! Its right in the fucking title retard! Its also right there on the first page of this thread..."Well it would have been different if RV was 10 points down."

You have blinders on almost as bad an uncle if you think I'm not a RV fan just because of the post I made. Yeah sure I would cheer for my nephew or anyone that I was related to but I sure as shit wouldn't try go public with what I "think" was going through their head when they just lost a race. Not mad at all and not related to Ryan. If you go through my post history you'll see I stick up for RV , RD , Stewart......all of em'. Like i said....some of you guys act like little school girls with this stuff. The dude is proud of his nephew.....and by the looks of the way Ryan has been racing this year.....I'd say he has good reason too.....wouldn't you?

Another thing some of you guys don't get is RD and RV get along great off the track. On the track they are fierce competitors and let the chips fall where they may. on "this board".......you guys throw the names back and forth as if they are mortal enemies.

It's a no-win situation for uncle and you know it. And again ( for like the 1000th time.)...it's his nephew.....what the hell else would you expect?

You are so far off base it's crazy. I'm a RV fan, love watching the guy race. Have since he came up. You say "you guys say this" and " you guys dont get that" where do you see any of the bullshit you reference in any of my posts?! I just happen to believe RV is a man (a beastly fast man) who can make his own excuses if he wanted to. I watched two separate interviews where he made none, which I give him a lot of credit for. Then I come on here and read this thread. It makes me laugh. I never said uncle shouldn't come on here and talk moto I just said I would be embarrassed if I was RV? Is that the same thing? I think not.

I don't have the time or give enough of a shit to go through your post history but I'm sure I would never find you in a thread you didn't agree with.... YEAH RIGHT!

I have to go with PTECH here, not sure what's up there jeffro. No one has gone after RV, or his uncle specifically for that matter, just saying a win is a fricken win, RV accepts it, and most agree it was the best race yet this year. This thing has been beat to death, let's move on.

I love how when RV2 wins, the dialogue is "He's the fastest racer on the planet, he's unstoppable, etc."

Then when he loses a race near the end of the year after getting run down and passed, "He's just protecting his points"

The same exact thing was said about RC. After watching it, RV looked like he wanted to pass him back for the win but Dungey was too strong and set on winning the race. RV tried to pressure Dungey for a mistake on the last lap but I don't think he was going to risk that little bit extra more to try and put a wheel on him and end up going down.

Regardless of what the motive was, championships are won by smart racing and knowing when to lay it all out on the track and win the battles (like Dungey did) and when to take the points that are given for 2nd place and move one step closer to winning the war (like RV did).

you could change RV to any other dominant rider in history. it's just the way it is.

people love to hate a winner. they also like to defend their guy, it's the way fans are and it's not just moto fans.

This thread is stupid. 3 races left, 22 point difference between 1 and 2. Villo is running for the championship, Dungey is trying to make him fail. They both want to win the race, but Dungey has to bring it on to force Villo into a mistake that may take him out of the race. In the last laps, Villo is doing nothing more than protecting his championship. Stand on the podium, in 3rd place and say to the champ, "I won more races than you", then wait for the laughter. The championship is what matters, and makes you money. Villo needs to get ahead 26 points, so the last race doesn't matter. Dungey had his chance early in the season to build points, but didn't grow hair at that point. ( I think if Dungey could muster up the aggression that RV has, he could be as fast,or faster.) It's all on Dungey to keep ahead of Milsaps, Short of not finishing a moto, RV has it wrapped up, and won't risk it, for a win. It's the Champ people remember, and again, makes you the most money.

Why does RV have all the ra-tard fans on his side? Please someone answer the question, RV doesn't deserve this!
