What Happened ! to this guy. How do you go from dominating a class to hoping to finish in the top 10.

It's called the Natural progression of things, Bubba was dominating the competition of 2008 and 2009, the Competition of 2010,2011,202 and 2013 have upped the Game and Bubba's speed in 08 and 09 isn't fast enough to run with Dungey and Villopoto in a 20 lap main and some of the other Top 5. It's only going to get harder and harder from here on out, because there are always faster riders moving up. You'll never see him win another AMA Championship, but he'll win the occasional Heat race once in awhile.

Did you happen to watch the first few races of the 2012 MX series? Winning another AMA Championship isnt completly out of the question... Not yet anyways

I have an idea, grab your helmet and meet JS at the track, follow him for a lap, and then come back and tell us what happened to him.
The pool is pretty deep with talent, and JS is getting older, it happens with every great racer. I wouldn't count him out for a few more wins though, he can still haul ass..

off topic, but I think it is totally amazing how RC stepped up his game to run Bubba's pace in the latter parts of his career. RC had to learn how to ride a supercross track a different way using newer techniques, with a completely different bike setup than he normally ran. There's a reason people say "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." Old habits are hard to change; especially if you have been doing them on a bike since you were a kid. RC pretty much rewired his brain learning newer techniques and adapting to a bike setup that would get him around the track quicker, in order to progress to the next level. Pretty stinking incredible if you ask me.

I agree with that assessment of RC, however he never really mastered the scrub, indoors or out.

It was his corner speed that really developed right after the 2 Canadian rounds that were run, (Toronto and Vancouver) prior to the actual SX season, and that year in Canada JS had everybody covered and smoked em bad, but before Anaheim came around RC went into boot camp, learned those techniques and came out ready.
