Back when they had the first US open of supercross at the Vegas MGM Grand everyone was saying that the AX guys would be killing the SX guys because it was going to be such a small AX style track. This was back when the AX field was much deeper with talent also.

People were betting money on the AX guys to kick butt, then they ran the race and the normal SX guys who are the best of the best made the AX guys remember why they were riding the AX series.

Bowers is the king of AX now but I think he will have a tough time staying in the top ten.
if this was the west coast, I would agree.

the east is lighter in the depth of field.

I say top 5, podium potential with a start.

OR, him and Friese will be locked up in a corner somewhere.

If he could run third or fourth he wouldn't still be running the AX series 10th-12th if he has a good run.

Aside from the PC/Geico guys, he's making more money racing the Arenacross series than the rest of Lites riders racing both the SX & MX series. Especially with his championship bonus. He'll be way better than 10-12th. Not saying he's going to podium right away, but he should be around the too 5.
I'm glad someone understands. I'm sure IF he had other offers to race SX this year for similar money, he would've done it. He's got an opportunity to show what he can do on the best bike out there, I think he's capable of a podium. Top 5 is where he should be, but we'll see what happens. There is NO money in SX/MX, unless you're running top 5 every weekend. 80% of the riders are either racing for free on a privateer team or paying to race. Tough way to make a living these days...

Thats not what I ment, when I talk to him, he has nothing but good to say about you. It seems mutual. I hope he kills it.

i think its funny when people say "if hes that good he wouldn't be racing AX"....do you guys realize how much money hes taking home for these arenacross wins and championship??? your crazy to be racing supercross when you can be winning AX (which he is very good at). smh at vital sometimes.

on paper. he should fit into 4th behind marvin, hahn and wharton. anything can happen tho and it probably will. hes plenty fast enough to hang with 4th on back crowd...don't think he has marvin/hahn/wharton speed tho.

I think its great guys like Bowers can make great money in AX and he would be stupid to move to SX full time because he would not get the same type of payout. Same reason guys like Gaddis and Antunez hit the AX circuit , because they could be the big dog and make the big money on the AX circuit. But the bottom line is that as good as Bowers is he is not a top SX guy and may never be but he has a great opportunity on the PC bike. There is a reason the AX series is called the" road to supercross".

From memory it seems Bowers not only struggled with bad luck and crashes last year, he also struggled with fitness.

From watching the AX races where they raced 10 minutes at a time, he was winded and extremely sweaty throughout the year this year. I'd bet he'll get good starts, even for a big guy and fade to 10-12 place. He'll have 4 or 5 good laps in him and then start to go backward.

i just cant see a 7th out of him. maybe in his first race, but he will be up there battling podiums by end of season., especially if the whoops are big......i just hope he can start at the front of the pack. the races are to short and hes not hahn or musquins speed (i dont think) and they barely did it from back of pack...

The speeds in 250SX are much faster than AX and the track way more gnar. I can see how easy it would be to assume TB will be a top guy but he won't. Just a fact.

#68 Tyler Bowers making his season debut in Houston on the PC 250f, where do you guys think he will end up on his first ride? I'm thinking third or fourth, with Marv continuing his streak and Wilbur in second.
He found his calling in AX.... Pro SX and MX are out of his comfort zone. On PC bike he is capable of some good finishes but nothing consistent. PC is struggling for championships and in that quest they are doing the right thing. Give more riders the opportunity and sooner or later they will find one! Three races in a row with no podiums and your out!! Tough philosophy but it works!

I feel the same way when people bag on the freestlye guys..and i dont like freestyle.

Whats the difference between a mid pack pro racer and a FMX rider? The FMX rider actually makes money, and he can party too!!

Bowers makes more money doing AX than he would if he rode one of the coasts SX and a full outdoors series.

they had a close up of the corner after the whoops just after the start. you could see bowers rounding out that corner in about 15th. he musta made some big moves on that first lap cuz he came around in 7th or so.
