It would be good if JGR could try a different bike, before they pack up and leave. The YZF is fine to some, but it has a stigma. If JGR was able to put their riders on a Suzuki or Honda, I think they might have a little more success.
But, I think JGR is banking on the 2014 Yamaha being worth the wait.
The real "tell" is coming up in 1 week. The opening round of the Japanese nationals. We will see the '14 Yamaha.
My question is, were they ever truly moto?
I know they made their money from football and Nascar, but to make it in moto - you have to live and breathe moto.
If they were in it to make money, or for any other reason besides their absolute and undying love for moto, then it won't shock me when they do pack up and go home.
Maybe Coy is moto, I don't know for sure. Or maybe it was just his 'project' - since they have money to burn.
Also, coming in one day and winning a championship the next doesn't happen. If they want to win championships and reach the pinnacle of the sport, it usually takes more than a few seasons to accomplish that.
And it isn't as easy as it sounds. You can even hire the fastest man on the planet. It still doesn't guarantee you will take home a championship.
I hope they stay.

Perhaps a team manager that has tattoos, wears his hats with a flat bill and is "core"? Perhaps a team manager that has won 5 world champioships? Maybe you would like them to relocate to California?
For my money Jeremy Albrecht is "moto". Spending the time and money to make a trick tank/shroud combo is "moto". I believe JGR does suspension and motor mods? Thats "moto" huh?
On the JGR front, I hope they stay. They are a first class team that has been hindered by a not so great bike to work with. Look how much better Stewart and Millsaps are this year having a better bike underneath them. They have the funding to sign a top rider, but at this point it looks like no top rider wants to ride the current design blue bike.
Yall say bike, but I say rider options are slim. Not every rider can win the championship or even a race. Even the second and third place riders aren't logical additions to teams in the last few years.
And was Reed's comment saying tha JGR is about to bail on Yamaha or SX/MX in general?
I try to never speculate, but hey - it happens sometimes.

Have you actually been in the pits and seen the number of displays under team awnings?
TeamGreen and I have discussed and agree on sponsors being able to represent themselves and sell the products they make in the pits.
I think it's a crock of shit that the teams can't sell stuff in there. I would've liked to get a couple team t-shirts.
Not really interested in a Monster SX shirt.
Why are people so anxious to grab onto supposed bad news?
From my perspective, JGR may not have gotten the results they've wanted so far, but it's not for lack of effort, or willingness to push the limits of what's possible with their race team.
We need more teams like that. Even though I'm not a Yamaha guy, I want then to succeed.
id hate to see pro mx/sx turn into what has become ama road racing..
I thought it was odd given what I've heard from Coy and Jeremy. Love the guys there. They've just had some horrible luck.
