Wow, that sucks. He is WAY too talented to be riding around in Canada.

Gosh, I hope Matthes reads this.

Why JGR didn't hire Brett to run outdoors only is still a mystery to me.
Brett is a good dude. I wish him the best.

If he's getting paid a good amount of $$$ to do so; more power to him. It seems like he's had nothing but bad luck in the last few years, I know some fans will be bummed that he's in Canada, but...the racing is good there and it'll keep him on the bike. Good for him and good for the fans IMO...

OuchPinch It's good racing up here...all politics aside. Kiniry and Georke seem to be doing pretty good in SX, ever heard of them? Good for Metty, look forward to chatting with him in Nanaimo.

Finally a reason to pay attention to the Canadian series.... He may just legitimize it, I hope he kills it!

gopher and Walton are both within 3 hours for me. might have to go see that. Gopher is unbelievably gnarly he's going to be ridiculously fast there.

I don't think his fans will be happy about him racing in a 2nd rate championship, when he could be racing in the US.

BT is doing the same in Australia. I don't get it? They are world class riders who can compete at the top level, but choose to race in the lower grades. Both don't have many years left. Maybe its a semi retirement move?

Wouldn't you go and race for the most $$$? They are Pro riders racing for a living. If the best offer happens to be in Canada so be it. It's their choice.

More like lack of opportunity in my opinion. Townley was off to race in the US last year until he hurt himself. Then has just been home trying to get fit again since. I am sure Brett would be racing the AMA nats if he had the support and money behind him that he feels he needs to succeed. When a suitable offer isnt there, he has to finalise what he is doing, and if he was getting really good offers to race in Canada, then the decision is easy. He already turned down the Factory Suzi ride here in Aus because he wanted to continue to try and race in the states. Hopefully Metty gets another chance to race the AMA nats.

RCH is a team that should have been looking at Metty for the outdoors.

I'm very happy to see him up North!
It's much better than him taking the summer off and waiting for a fill in.
Should be great to see Facciotti against him.

The window of opportunity to pick up a bigger ride for the upcoming silly season in the US or fall into a replacment factory rider spot for someone injured far outweighs a few extra dollars riding up north all summer. Metty would easily land a factory replacement spot if someone was injured and we all know that's going to happen.

I'm sure he's still pissed about how Yosh Suz f'ed him over, but he has a huge fan base here and we'll miss him at the Nats.

Yeah because the Canadian Championship is on par with the AMA ? I am amazed he did not choose the Aus series over Canada, the Australian championship would be a much tougher series to keep on pace.

I guess Canada is a lot easier with a American based young family.

Hopefully there is still time and he end up with a ride in the U.S

Mate, if they both don't win their respective championships it will be due to injury.

I'm sorry but I've gotta say it. This is a huge downgrade. He has WON motos and overalls in the USA before. As a Canadian I would love to see him up here to race but I think for his career he would be better off in the USA. I also think Facciotti should have went to the USA and STAYED down there a long time ago... but that's for another day and another thread.

Did Goerke some good, Metty needs a good bike, a healthy season and to build some confidence...

That sucks, if he doesn’t race in the USA he should race the GP`s instead, not Canada.

You've gotta be kidding me. How well have your Canadian champs done down here? Remember Dusty Klatt's venture south of the border?

Dusty wasn't the same guy down there. Many fast Americans have said its fast up here, our riders run a good pace on home soil.

Not without a big paying team, which he doesn't have. Let's not forget that winning a GP pays $0.00.
