Jeffrey Herlings ‏@JHerlings84
Allmost 3rd in the Superfinal. Just got a few seconds really dizzy with 2laps to go cos of the heat. Thats why I had to slow down for a bit.

But he said on the podium: (@ 4 mins 49 secs in the video below)

"About the last lap, I just took it easy, and said, like, yeah, I'll just win my moto of MX2, that's all I can do, and take 50 points home from Thailand"

That sums up [one of] the problems with combined classes. Why race a guy who's not even in your race, and when you get no more points or money for doing so?

Anyway, so what? Now he says he felt dizzy...? Sounds to me like he has had the YS heavies pay him a visit.

I'm getting excited to see a Herlings/Cairoli showdown when JH moves up. It'll be interesting to see whether he runs a 350 or a 450.
yer it would be nice to see someone challenge cairoli, but i think jeffrey would have to speed up some as he was only marginally faster than searle (apart from in the sand) last year and searle has quite a bit to do to challenge toni

Did you watch last weekends race? Herlings went from 8th (with quite a gap to the front), to almost passing for 3rd. And the guy in third was the red plate holder, Desalle.

Dont forget this guy is very young and still growing/learning every day. You cannot compare a rider that young by looking what he did 1/2 years ago. Herlings used to be an average guy on the hard pack tracks. At the end of last season that was already changed (Searle was nowhere close to him last races)

Nevertheless, the combined class is kinda meh.. On most GP tracks the bigger bikes have alot of advantage. But thenagain its only combined in the oversea GP's, and there's not many of those left.

Enjoyed the race very much. Think the MX2 guys still getting the short end in the superfinal. Wonder if some tracks would keep it tighter, and if they can keep that in mind when they design the flyaway races.

They should let the MX2 guys start in the 1st corner like the old Challenge/grudge racing days.

125's in 1st corner 250's and Open bikes off the gate.

I'd be more concerned about the lack of spectators, looks like the USGP

I don`t think they care about spectators. It`s all paid by hosting country. It`s mostly for TV.

I wonder what happened between Luongo and that Russian bank that was forking his way millions. Russian GP had like 50`000 spectators and they cancelled it after one year.

Nah, I know people who was there and that what it had . At least. Funny thing there was not enough room on a track side for all the people so some of them where there without actually seeing the race.

Good for the series, but strange to not go back then I guess.

It costs half a million a year to buy just a licence.

I dont know why people get hung up on promoters numbers. Of course they are not correct. They never are. I remember back in the 90s they said the British roud of the World superbikes had 120,000. That figure was trotted out over and over and the true figure was actually around a third of that. Who cares? its just PR get over it.

Crowd didnt look impressive tho. Soil looked very good and there were at least some hills but it never looks good when the sides of the track are all dirt like that. Just looks like a building site - which it kind of was having just been built. Having just re watched the 1997 125cc world championship opener from indonesia I can say last weekends track was a big improvement at any rate.

What about this hairbrained suprefinal! How can you attempt to simplify something for TV and end making it It MORE complicated - doh! and the MX2 teams are getting fucked over big time. Many of those MX2 teams have really solid budgets for one reason alone. They have riders in the top 5 on TV. If Jeffrey Herlings can barely make top 5 now how the fuck can those teams possibly keep their sponors? Dean Ferris finished 2nd overall last week. did anyone notice? Probably not, he had a 5th and a 13th for 2nd overall. Try explaining that one to your friend who deosnt follow mx.

Wow...didn't look nearly that big from the MX-Life camera angle. Paulin is a bad dude.

I'm still not feeling the Superfinal. For whatever reasons, the gap between MX1 & MX2 seems like it's just too much right now for something like this to really work as intended. Maybe the age restriction is a big part of it?

The track in Thailand was much better than I expected it to be, and the MX1 racing has been great so far!

You just don`t understand. Ask Geoff, he`ll explain to you what a wonderful idea it is. Luongo is gonna take it to another level.

I feel terrible for even asking this.....but what round are we on for the GP's? I'd like to check out some action on some of these "alternate channels " Scottie mentioned.

And without even reading this thread past the first few replies.....how is the "super pole" or whatever it's called going with the lites bikes and the 450's combined? It sounds interesting.....just wondering if there has been some good action in those motos?
