If they want to call it the World SX Chamionship then every round should be in a different country like the World MX Championship. 16 US rounds and 4 others does not constitue a world championship.

With the current interest in SX/MX from the NASCAR world I would think that they would loose interest in investing in motorcycle racing if they thought they would be traveling the world to race. I think also that that potential team sponsors, look at companies that sponsor NASCAR, most would have very little interest in racing outside of North America...... I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel..... bad idea, keep the series in North America IMO.

For a sport that doesn't seem to have a lot of interest sans the low tv ratings there sure seems to be a lot of power struggles. Must be a lot of money in bilking the enthusiasts.

It's amusing how the "power brokers" of the sport are obsessed with creating an alternative to NASCAR etc... Were are a niche sport, the X Games are bigger than MX or SX, we are 5 generations away from even hoping we will have a houseold name like Jordan, Gretzky, or Favre.

Bottom line is they should try to cater to the fans that are already here, and not the ones they hope to have.

The WILL of the FIM. Angry

Where do people think all this money to support this is going to come from? It''s expensive enough just to send 3 riders and their support to do the MXoN.

This is really just going to be like the CART/IRL, ABA/NBA, AFL/NFL ,etc. crap. Screw the sport up for years, then it will straighten itself out. How many years it takes to get the straightening is gonna suck.

If this is what the FIM and LN wants maybe it is time DMG gets with the American Distributors and comes up with an alternative supercross series. They have more clout and power to fight off LN then the AMA and Jam Sports did.

The problem with that idea, is LiveNation has all the stadiums.

Here is the entire 2009 FIM World Supercross Championship Series Schedule:

March 28, 2009 Toronto Rogers Centre

Thats it. One round. Used to be two but attendance was shit and they dropped it.

The whole FIM title thing is a joke. That would be like adding a Outdoor National in Canada and calling it the AMA World Motocross Championship Series.

The first thing they should do is start a 16 round European SX series so the GP riders can get a few years of supercross experience and test the venues for attendance.

DMG has all the NASCAR tracks and I am sure the France family could work out something with the stadiums.

explain to me why ''true privateers'' belong in any world championship series?

u want privateers go watch local races.

I'm all for a true world championship. whether sx is considered real mx is always up for debate.

we already have the mxgp's as the true world title. but unfortunately its the ''world title'' in name only.

a hybrid series of mx/sx would be the best solution we can hope for. it will bring mx to the same spotlight sx gets, and in the end, true fans will gravitate towards mx and maybe down the road it will win out.

the ama outdoors series will automatically be the premier u.s. series by default no? I so, its a win win for everyone.
If you don't have privateers you don't have a full gate.

Hell, with privateers they have trouble getting full gates anyways. Kinda pathetic I think.

I would prefer 10 guys on the same lap, rather than the leaders having to deal with lappers by lap 5 and no one in the stands knowing who's out front without a leaderboard...

I know every one said that YS getting rid of the privateer would spell disater for the rider turnout in GPs but instead they are talking about expanding the gate to 40 to take on the extra demand they now have for entries. Privateers are only needed when there isn't enough rides provided by satelite teams.

What might be cool would be a five or so race 'Final' series involving the top 10 Americans against the top 10 FIM riders.

Because without the privateers you have 8 guys on the track. The guy leading the Kanuck series struggles to qualify for a US outdoor national. It is all about the money. Purse money won't solve much. What about the carbon footprint?!Shocked

And charging them 10K Euros to be in.

I think the concept is that by buying your way in to a series that gives you exposure, you leverage sponsorships that fund operations and return on investment.

I don't know whether YS contributes a subsidy to teams for travel or if there is any other cash flow back to the teams from YS.

They have a good thing going taking 10k from the riders and not giving shit back to them.

and it's 10,000 per rider, not per team Smile

With smaller budgets due to a harsh economy & the U.S. dollar $ucking in the Global economy...

Will be interesting to see What U.S. Teams, if any are up for the non-USA rounds?

they don't take 10,000 from the riders. They take it from the teams. If this is as stupid an idea as people on here want to make out then I guess the number of teams for Valkenswaard 09 would be down. Thing is, official teams for 09 have already been anounced and thats not the case is it.

If riding GPs is so financialy unfeasable for non factory riders why is it that the likes of Osbourne, Saylor and Graham find themselves in GPs? Not to mention DV returning to a privately funded team for his outdoor only ride. Wheres all the 'rich' private teams in US (where bike sales in Cali outdo the continent of Europe) when these guys need a mx ride?

Supercross is king no doubt but it seems as soon as the sx seasons ended the support is just not the same for the outdoors. Maybe people should stop critisising every YS decision and actualy pay closer attention to the detail and economic reasons behind them. theres a sound business reasoning behind their policies and evidence of change is allready apparent to those who bother to pay attention.

I would love to see Dedycker (sp) against James Stewart in "World Supercross Championship". That would make a great YouTube video!

Bring it FIM (fags in motocross).

We have your number.
