My son may be getting a new CR125 and I was curious as to what will work well on this bike. Looking for info on pipes, v-force, and other bolt on mods. Any suggestions or personal experience with the Honda 125 is appreciated.
See the little 10mm drain bolt on the left side of the cylinder? Make sure you you get all the coolant out of there before removing the cylinder. If you don't, it falls right into the bottom end when you lift the cylinder.
For all those boyseen bashers, I currently run V force on my bike....just saying I have heard better results ON THAT BIKE with a boyseen rad valve.
Also, if you have it motor modded.....it apparently really wakes up with a big bore having something to do with the intake tract and case volume being too large for it stock. I think a 134 requires minimal mods.
Other than that, like said above, keep the air filter clean every ride, dirt is a two strokes biggest enemy.

My kid is running his last year on the 85's and we are moving to the 125 next.
We are running stock pipe and silencer, v-force reeds.
We have always mixed 32:1 for his RM85 and had great luck why would 40:1 be more desireable for the 125?
Is it specifically the CR or any 125?
But hey what do I know I'm only a caveman
It doesn't, period. Get a tuner on here to prove otherwise, but here are some "points" i will make on it baised on what I have learned, and what makes sense to me.
In the shifter kart world, hp is king. You will find the fastest 125 displacement motors there, not in motocross (in part because they can get away with less rideable powerband)
Most high performance shifter kart tuners will say no less than 32:1 and preferrably 24:1.
In a world where people are searching for the most power, and they use more oil, it should say something.
Also, in that world, the motors are subjected to high rpm all the time (which we think we have in mx....but we don't compared to them) thus the need for more oil. But mx has dirt invloved, and I don't car how clean you keep your air filter, small dirt particles still enter. More oil helps in this area too.
Lastly, when running 40:1 vs 32:1, many people feel it is leaner. Eh, wrong. here is why: per one part of mixture, you have 40 parts of gas to 1 part of oil at 40:1 and obviously 32 parts of gas to 1 part of oil at 32:1.
32 is less than 40 anyway you look at it, and carburetors don't distinguish between oil and gas. It sees it all as one big mixture. That means when you go from 32:1 to 40:1 your bike gets richer (which for most oem bikes makes them slower - factories typically go somewhat conservative on jetting - although I don't know about the cr125 stock jetting)
If I am wrong on all things stated...feel free to correct me.
32:1 in a 125T
40:1 in a 250T
Aggie is right about rich v. lean fuel mixture. A 'rich' oil ratio leans the fuel-air ratio and vice versa.
The rest of it depends on the bike and the oil. I've run anywhere from 20:1 to 70:1 (Motul). Never had any problems. The main thing is to be consistent. Otherwise you'll be thinking jetting issues are oil issues and vice versa.
The main argument I've seen that makes a little sense for running more oil versus less is improved ring seal leading to better compression.
Moto814, Jesse, and/or Gorr could probably give some good advice on this. Others, for the most part, are just giving seat-of-the-pants opinions.
usually a hopped up cr was as fast as a stock yammie in the last few years honda 125`s were made.

Replace the 52-tooth rear sprocket with a 53
2005 to 2007 Honda CR 125s are fast. A tad slower than the 2005 YZ 125. Yamaha made improvements in 2006.

And HEY 5 bucks is 5 bucks haha.
Here is a pic of the sled I used to run.
I built the pipes as well as the engine. I showed Jesse everything he knows! JK ,I didn't know him then!. He does nice work.
