My first race I wore a Bell Star with Jofa hockey shoulder pads under my jersey. What a dork I was!! The bike was a 75 Honda Elsinore, stone stock.

You went to the Suzuki School of Motocross at Carlsbad .

Laid down your own shocks in high school metal shop.

Drank the original MX energy drink " Rolf Tibblins Wet Energy "

Got hooked on MX after watching " On Any Sunday "

The first race you attended as a fan was a Tran Am event .

Had a CR 125 with a 34 Mikuni , S&W shocks , aluminum swingarm ,boost ported cylinder , fmf porcupine head and fmf pipe

Lets hear your old school memories .
And instead of Gatorade you drank ERG courtesy of Leon Wolek

I don't know at what point you are considered old school (I started racing in 1983 on my CR60R). I remember drinking a boatload of Tiger's Milk! Hi-Point steel shinned boots, and I had the Simpson helmet below.. I swear that thing weighed 50 pounds.

I went to the Suzuki School at Carlsbad. Crashed on the downhill on the very last day on the very last lap. Knocked me out, cracked my Bell Moto 3, and had to take a trip to the hospital so I missed the final awards/meal.

How about you are old school if you raced a bike that had 2 rear shocks.

Your parents gave you 20.00 to go race at Baylands Race Track in Fremont CA after school.

Your forks had 6 inches of travel and your shocks had 4.

Saved all year to get the $175.00 for the Suzuki school of motocross in 1978. The $175.00 was 5 days and 4 nights room and board and bike. Minimum wage was $1.35 but I was pulling in the big bucks at $2.00 an hour.

Mark Barnett told me that Leon was the one that showed him he could run up sand hills without exploding his heart! In the picture that says "Let Brock Bye" Leon is standing there with Mark's dad.

Had a jofa hockey mouth protection and at your first race had not a clue what the clock in the middle of startstraight was good for. Used braces and the small "American" duckstyle helmetshade that didn't protect anything against roost. Leatherpants that made your "bestfriend" become the ugliest smelling part of your lower body in 5 minutes on a sunny day. Oboy what cool we where!Laughing

When I was 12 years old in the early 70s I was so dumb I bought a Kami 80 (they were made by Penton) for $20 from a guy who told me it was" froze up" I just thought it was "froze up" because it sat outside all winter and that I would just let it sit in the sun to unfreeze it. Blush

Not really an energy drink but had a glass bottle of lime gatorade after the moto.
Or you mixed your own "Pripps Plus" energy drink.

You know who Ronnie Ziggafoose is
You crash at the start because your Hodaka was stroking backwards
You still end your words of advice with “you should have known...”
You thought that a “Skunk Works” kit would actually work
You hoped that you never ended up in “Crash and Burn”

Like silver rims over black rims. Dont like black rims or plastics.
