If everyone here was as smart as they think you'd all be pro racers or have kids that are.

He has a hurt knee. That's what's wrong with his knee.

James finished two SX races in a row and didn't hit the ground in either of them . . . . with a jacked ACL . . . I would call that progress from last season
Agreed.

And in his interview - (which was there for everyone to see??? why it seems so many on here didn't see it is beyond any thinking person) - he said "Look guys, if I was going to back out of this championship tomorrow I would tell you all about my injury, but I'm going to hang in there and fight this one till the end, so I ain't going to talk about it."

Then, Emig and RC talked about why riders don't talk about their injuries for all you to listen to as well. How'd y'all miss that as well?

Plain and simple. If there are some of you that would feel better if he personally told you what's going on with his knee, too f-ing bad.

Go become top level professionals yourselves and tell us all about your injuries so you can show us all how it should be done.

Considering he has a bad knee I think James is actually doing quite well. He looked good in his heat last night and has so far managed a very respectable pair of top 10s. That's perfectly OK for now. The guy has to be in some considerable pain.

I don't know if he can recover from that injury in time for the title but in the meantime he's doing everything he can imo.

I dont get how you can say he's washed up.. He clearly has an injury.. makes me think its pretty serious if he doesnt want to talk about it at all.. But the guy throws down the fastest lap every weekend in qualifiers so i hope JS can salvage points till he's healthy enough to compete for wins and shut all these negative people up

I think James is riding a smart season to be honest. Hold things back a little for a few weeks , let that knee heal up the best it can.....and start putting in better finishes. I think if he can stay off the ground , his finishes will get better......the only down fall to that approach is , these other guys are gaining momentum AND confidence.

I also think that by the end of the season.....he should be right up there in points. He's riding a smart season right now if he has a bum knee. You can't ever count that guy out.

I wish I could ride like James does when he's suffering. Maybe we are seeing a more mature JS7? Maybe the hurt knee is making him realize being the fastest and crashing isn't the way to win a championship. I think he's riding smart.

I wish he was 100%, because this season has so much talent, and he would push the pace that much faster. I say cut him some slack, we'll see where he is in a few weeks.

What's wrong with him? His right knee is injured. In my opinion it's a sprained MCL/ACL. It is possible that it's a partial tear also. He's playing damage control until it heals. If it heals I guess I should say. Hopefully it does soon.

A lot of people myself included have criticized him for his checkers or wreckers attitude in the past, and because he's likely riding injured now, he's finally (at long last!) learned to take what comes to him and not force the issue and try to salvage points this season and build momentum as the season goes on, and yet people are up his ass now for riding too conservatively or saying he's lost the desire or is washed up. It seems like no matter what this dude says or does on or off the track somebody is going to bitch about it.

I'm certain he will not finish the season. I don't even feel like I'm going out on any sort of limb saying that either.

His gear looked good last night.
Like Windham............??? If he was going to "milk" something he probably could have done that at JGR don't ya think?

Hey this is a James hating thread, let's take posts like that elsewhere. It's hard for me to take some of you seriously as motofans when all I see is blind hate for a guy you have never met in real life. Some of you clowns genuinely wish Stewart's ACL was torn

Good grief folks, James looked fantastic in his heat race with a convincing win (ya, he went a little conservative in the last 2 laps of the heat, but he won it convincingly). He also set the fastest practice lap of the day. Last weekend he had no problems kicking over his 450 prior to the start, so it's not an ACL. His bike set up looks fine as evidenced by his lap times and the heat win. Maybe, just maybe he has realized that the competition level has improved tremendously and he can't win a championship if he crashes out every other weekend trying to win every single race by riding over his head. I can certainly believe the knee is sore, especially if he says so. I've had knee injuries too and they suck. Props to him for riding through the pain. But the bottom line to me is he is riding smart and thinking about the season, not an individual race or bragging rights. If I were advising James, I'd having him work 90% of his time during the week on starts. The knee is likely hurting and I can say from experience, that it won't likely heal up until the season is over. No need to irritate it for very little gain. He's obviously comfortable on the bike. James has never been much help in figuring out his set ups anyway. So why practice too much during the week? I'd have him work 90% of his time at starting. In this season with this group of riders, starts are likely going to determine the championship winner IMO. Advantage Barcia....But gotta give serious props to Davi up to this point.
I agree with just about all of this...

SX needs James and I wish him all the best. I hope it comes down to Vegas and for once James is the hunter coming from behind and he wins it all. That would be epic.

That- or Canard wins it all, its a toss up for me. Wink

Is it the same knee he injured a few years ago that needed surgery?

Does he (or all riders for that matter) wear knee braces? If so, are they not that effective in preventing an ACL tear, etc?

No it was his 'good' knee. When you jam your leg in the ground a knee brace doesnt help that much. I broke my leg the same way and never crashed

Many players in other sports are very defensive when asked about injuries. And it depends on the sport whether they must be disclosed...for instance, the NHL is vague about injuries. They have "upper" and "lower" body injuries. They don't have to disclose anything more than that. Whatever is wrong with James it is strange seeing him being passed and left behind in 7th, 8th place.

Thats true. I wonder why the NFL has to disclose injuries so specifically. You would think it's the same situation.
its actually all about gambling. thats the reason theres different ratings like questionable and likely. its so people gambling dont get burned. i dont think its on paper that way but that why it happened.

Man if his knee is screwed he should pull out and get it fixed for the nationals. He isn't doing anyone any good messing around in 8th delaying the inevitable..

Ah, but you forget that Supercross is where the sponsors get the most bang for the buck, exposure-wise. And James will get almost as much airtime finishing top ten as he would getting on the box, especially if he can continue to light it up in qualifying and the heats.

It's obvious James knee isn't 100%. Given that I think these last 2 weeks he's been riding really smart and taking what he can get without crashing or damaging the knee more. It's a long season and guys like Barcia, Canard and Milsaps will more then likely have their bad luck nights as well...

Some of the critics around here amaze me. All we have heard is how James needs to ride smart as he usually either wins or crashes.....and lately it has been more crashing. He's hurt but obviously can still post some lethal lap times. But come race time, especially if he doesn't get the start, he is just riding within his limits...limits that have lowered due to the knee.....and by doing that he has a 8th and 7th. That's pretty good and he is right there with RV and RD and CR for the most part points wise.

Give the guy a break for God's sake.

There are some amazing IQ levels on show here.

He made a statement that he is hurt, he is clearly taking it very easy and anybody with an ounce of SX knowledge can see it, belief and patience really must be two very rare commodities.

The season is long and in my opinion this is the smarter JS that should have been around in 10,11,12 as he is taking points and doing what he needs to do in order to recover from the injury and see it to the end.

I think his wrist is what the problem is. Remember he broke the same bone that ended RJ's career. James has never been the same rider since that injury. Sure the competition has stepped it up, and almost everyone can "scrub" now. But the James that used to ride a Kaw is long gone....PROVE ME WRONG JAMES!
I think his problem is crashing too many times.................

Think Stewart made 3 main, bad decisions that attributed to your observation;

SX only - in his prime while he was slaying
That shit TV show - while he was filming this poop the Ryan's were growing stronger by the week
Re-signing for Yamaha/JGR - when it was clear he needed and wanted real change

At least he is on the right track on a bike he likes. Question is - is it too late for him to rekindle that confidence? Wasn't long ago he had his target on MC's 72 win record.. I really hope for the sake of the sport he finds his form and is enjoying his racing. With the class as stacked as it is, sure would be an exciting time to see a dialled Stewart 'do work'.
