clicking noise after replacing piston

only one and he was the one who helped me replace the piston...now he feels bad because he thinks it is something he did

if I knew anyone else well enough, i would ask them. we have a lot of friends from the tracks, but no one I know well enough to ask them to take a few hours out of their day to look at this

well here is the latest from PowerSealUSA...

I sent the piston to them along with the cylinder so they could make the cylinder fit the piston. I got an email from them today telling me that the piston is actually for a cr80, not an 85. I appreciate them telling me this so at least I know it was nothing we did.

I have sent an email back to them asking if I can just buy a piston from them for an 85. The cylinder still needs to be replated, but at least now I know what the problem was.

I hear ya cr dude. I am even more glad that is was nothing that my friend or I did.

Now we are just hoping everything comes back in time to get it put back together in time for racing this weekend, and also that I don't have a hard time returning that wrong piston and getting my money back.

I got to thinking today about the one last part I originally ordered, the bearing. I have reordered all new gaskets, got a new piston from PowerSeal, but I am wondering about the bearing.

If the piston was wrong (for the cr80 instead of the 85) could the bearing also be wrong. I am not sure if the bearing is the same for both bikes. It's only 13 bucks so I am probably just going to order a new one and ship the other one back.

Any thoughts or does any one know if the bearings are the same for both bikes?

not going to live or die over it, but it is really not used, it was in the bike for about 5 minutes. I would hope they would do something seeing as how they have really cost me an extra 200 bucks. If they had sent me the right parts, I wouldn't have sent the cylinder to be plated and ,my son would already have two weeks of riding in.

If they give me a hard time, i will let it die peacefully, but I will never order anything from them again. I know big places like that do not need just one customer, but it is what it is and I will just see what happens.

well it is amazing how well things work when you have the right parts. We put everything back together today and it ran like a charm.

Motofab, you are 100% right. I looked at the way the ring was sitting on the 80 piston as compared to the way the ring was sitting on the 85 piston and there is a noticeable difference, chalk this up as a learning experience for me.
