There are three real players in the SouthEast in the motocross promoting game, The Gammons (Victory Sports), Joe Williams (JMX) and Alan McWilliams (RPM Sports) and others in this area. As of recent, Mr. Williams has been helping Sam with a lot of his events. These two do hold several races in the SouthEast, mostly in South and North Carolina and Tennessee while Mr. McWilliams has Georgia, Alabama and now Texas and Illinois. Who else are you going to give a National AMA event too, the local MX track that puts on one race a month that nets 100 riders or someone who holds several AMA Amateur qualifiers a year that nets 1500 riders? Personally, I wanted Aonia MX Park to get it but Mr. Perry would just have to bring in one of the three mentioned to run that big of event anyway. You need someone with the knowledge of running big events before even considering giving them a Pro AMA National.
As far as the AMA officials go, what you are saying does not surprise me, I myself have had one become rude and completely unprofessional while dealing with. And it had nothing to do with the races… that was just parking at an event! I am not against pointing a finger at someone who is a POS, however, it does take a repetitious cycle for me to see before making that call. So far over the years of dealing with the Gammon’s, they have been nothing but great people to deal with on my end. But I guess we all have a story of two to tell. I think they will do a fine job and will have to bow a little to people above them now in order to keep this event. (Or "Suck ass " as you say like most people do with MX Sports)

@ Thumpin, I have never heard of I-81. But I dont think the track and parking will be an issue. The close airport helps too I bet.

Qualifier at Ballance MX a few years back is where this took place and whether people want to post or not there where "a lot" of witneses to this event.

Good question but all your "classic" tracks are put on by the track owners. Millville, Unadilla, Southwick, Red Bud, Budds Creek, Washougal.
This is simply a pay off, plain and simple
Because someone does business with someone is a reason to "not have a problem with them"?

So how is Muddy Creek different than all the other tracks mentioned? Does jobmasters or some other temp agency put the events on there?
As for the last statement.
Victory Sports hosted their first LL qualifier in 1987 at Muddy Creek, and has hosted at least one every year since then except for a few years when they had to sit out the year after they hosted a regional.
Ever since then VS has done improvements to the facility and has hosted huge events all over the Southeast. (most recently at the 25th Annual Suzuki Top Gun Showdownwith over 2000 entries) They have a reputation for running well prepared and organized events.
Sam has 25+ years experience running events and being involved in all aspects of the sport, including over 10 years as an AMA congressman and working as the director of the AATVA nationals.
And yes, VS goes to LL's every year and helps out just like they have since about 1997.
"Payoff?" ......I think "earned" and "way overdue" would be more realistic.
Find someone else that understands what it takes to run a huge event, has the experience to back it up, a facility that fits the bill, and has a history of working with others involved in all aspects of the sport.
I am glad most people understand that and aren't distracted by someone that has some kind of bitter agenda over something that happened back in 2010 (the last time there was a Regional qualifier at Ballance).

You make a valid point, I dont know if any of these track owners ever had their hands in running multiple series or were always a "One track wonder", if you will... And I am sorry if you took what I said to think I don't feel a "One track wonder" are incapable of handling an event like this, I just felt the Victory Sports crew are well suited for it with all they do.
does this mean that most all the events that used to be AMA held by VS are for 2013 going to be AMA again?
never been to muddy creek but heard alot of good things about the facility and track.
If AMA Pro racing is a completely separate entity now why would it matter?
