Hopefully this isn't going to push him closer to retiring.

I just watched the friday night race and seeing roll at the back after 1 lap is so frustrating. I understand that he was feverish and all that but at least try. there are tons of people out there that came to see you just try. Weird having bercy without a top french rider. I guess next year they will put the money back on Musquin.

For CP I have no idea what he can do. Maybe fill in at PC if a rider gets injured for nationals.

I've given Pourcl grief on the boards in the past...mostly for alleged attitude issues, but have always conceded to his amazing riding skills and what a pleasure it is to watch him ride. Hope he recovers soon & that he comes back into racing with the same determination that he had when he bravely came back after his back injury.

I am the only one to think that didn't look that bad? Can't argue with the result, ruptured spleen is scary. Get well soon.
Sometimes what looks like an easy hit does a lot of damage while riders jump right up from what looks like every bone should be broke type crashes.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Was it DeCoster that had to be operated on, almost upside down, when he lost his spleen to a wreck?

Yes. I believe he was practicing with Gasto Rahier who rushed The Man to the hospital for a
life saving operation.

With the right fall it doesn't look like it takes much to burst. CP's fall looked bad, but not worse than a lot you see at other races. I'm surprised James hasn't had had internal injuries after some of his crashes.

Get well soon Christophe.

I just tipped over and that was it. Mine was glued back together just in time. Internal injuries are freaky!

Everts had the same problem in 1992...

My injury was about 14 years ago, I can't stand getting touched there, super sensitive. Took about 2-3 years to get feeling back.
Internal injuries are no joke. I almost lost my leg due to a hematoma a couple years ago.

I lost mine in a crash when I was 18 I'm 36 now. I don't notice any difference apart from picking up colds and bugs more easily than I used to.. Way I see it it's better off gone means i can't rupture it again lol. It's a real bad injury to sustain. I was told I was really lucky the way it went as any more damage I would have drowned in my own blood within the minute. I also ruptured a kidney in the same crash but they managed to save it by basically soldering it back together.
Wish him all the best in whatever future he decides.

True story but it was Sylvain Geboers (who rushed him to hospital).

DeCoster flat lined during the course of all of this. He said it was a feeling like skiing over a small rise and just flowing.

DeCoster also got to drive Keke Rosberg's F1 car back in 81 at a circuit in Japan....how cool would that have been?
