The speech was not as telling as Stewart coming out to congratulate Ryan Dungey... Congratulating a rider outside of your team...has that even been done before?

I don't think he ever does.
I can't remember one podium speech where he has mentioned them.

Yes. All the time.

I want to say I've heard it happen at a Supercross. They're friends and riding partners, the silly season just adds fuel to the fire.

Dungey has been training with Stewart in Florida.

I understand and know that, but the guy he is congratulating beat his team member that was all I was saying and it was public.

Villopoto is not a teammate to Stewart; they are just both sponsored by the same manufacturer. Townley was seen cheering on Suzuki rider Cooper trackside at Unadilla, big flippin deal! This isn't basketball...

Team player, this is an individual sport always has been, you are out there for you and yourself at all times. Congats to James and Ryan!

During the MXoN too? And why are the riders on teams then? And why do they call the other guys on the same team their teammates?

Individual sport??? Since when? They all say "we" up there an awful lot for a sport that is not a TEAM. Ask the mechanic working on his bike between motos during a mud race if this is a team sport. Hell... just ask the riders themselves.

That stinks. What'd he say that leads you to believe it's a farewell speech? I hope you're wrong.

Remember it’s just my opinion, but the way he addressed the fans in the 1st moto podium interview as always being so good to him just had a different tone this time to me for some reason. I’m just saying…..

Good for Stewart; wins that elusive MX title and now march on to the MXdN and '09 SX series.

perhaps his contract with Yamaha has been a sealed deal for weeks/months for sx only.... I doubt Bubba just decided to go SX only on the day he finally clinched the "big one"....

but...... this is sad..... Really sad..... from day one in the Pro's, Bubba has tried to assert himself as the best ever..... with him going sx only, that really limits what he can attain during the rest of his career.... and he is far better than what his single 250/450 outdoor championship will show in the record books....

It's about the coin. Think of it in those terms, and it all makes perfect sense.
