ok so i have a 2005 kx250f, shes money, never had any motor problems "knock on wood", handles great to me atleast and seems to have alot of power, my question is, iv always got alot of crap for my bike being a bad bike compared to the newer kx250f, because 04-05 kxfs got a bad rap..so are the newer kx250f REALLY that much faster if at all then my 05? i know the suspentions a hell of alot better 06 and up. just wanting some opinions if the newer kawi 250fs are really any faster then my 05 if at all, ? what do you all think

Well, I think the latest KXF puts out nearly 7 or so HP more than the 05 model, if that helps

I've owned three generations of the KX250F...2005, 2007, and 2010. Each version was worlds better than its predecessor. My '05 burned up valves in no time flat until I replaced them with stainless units from Ferrea and used stiffer springs to stop the floating issue. They have improved hp and handling dramatically with every new version. Not saying your bike is a toilet, but yes, the newer ones really are much better.

ok, my valves are ment, i have had any of the BS "problems" this bike gets thrashed with haha, where can i get suspenion components? maybe even whole new forks or rear shock, and do you all think this 05 is Race able to race against all the bikes that have came out since 05? i race C at the moment around local tracks, atleast i think the 05 can do more then keep up with the newer bikes

the new bikes are aluminum frame alil stiffer have a whole redesigned (for the better) engine. there is no reason why you couldnt race it. I bought an 05 kx250f for my lil bro (his first whip) thing ran but as soon seemed to head south all at once real fast. 4 strokes are money pits, and imo this pit is a deep one to keep dumping money into. Like Driven said, as the years went on the bikes just got better.

And if you in the C class you could ride an 85cc and win if you got the skills, so dont worry about 5 hp.

my 05 kx250f will be making more HP then probally any newer kx250f, , im getting the whole motor rebuilt, with a athena 290 big bore kit, hot cams, valves, valve springs. and carb mods, along with other things like a full procircuit system. my kx250f with be meaner then any newer stock kx250f, except the 2013 that bikes unreal and yes i race C class, but at 160lbs i dont think i could rip a 85 and keep up with their 80lb riders! hahaha

Mate honestly just spend that money on a newer bike. Your year is a grenade that had a lot of issues including heat issues. Sticking a 290 kit and hot cams is really just polishing a turd.
Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but trust me it is wise advice.

So how did it go? I had one when they were fresh, it had the motor done with SS valves and pipe with suspension tuned. Best bike I ever had and I'm on the lookout for a good one as a sentimental project

How do you even find a thread from 11 years ago to comment on? Bravo

I'm really hoping OP pops back in here and responds "2012 monster build went great, bike rips 50+HP and is still going strong".  His profile states he is a "Professional Kawasaki Mechanic" so this seems like a logical outcome.

Best part about those bikes was they were some of the lightest 4 stroke 250's built. They handled pretty well too as long as you had the suspension set up right.

Yeah, I'm keen to grab one again when the opportunity is there! Not do build to a high level, just clean and tidy with an as new finish.
