Just curious what peoples thoughts would be for an all titanium motocross stand? Not trying to re-invent the wheel, my design is a "standard" operating stand but with a new/modern look....made of titanium (rubber top to be applied with Ti hardware as well). There would be locations where personalized graphics could be applied if the user wanted to. A stand that would weigh much less than the current aluminum/plasitc stands available yet be stronger..... Just kind of wanting to see if the interest would be there.
Thanks for any input

I use the bike strap in the truck and lean it away from the bed. Leave 'er in gear and you're good.
From Calsport.co.uk .
However if I was someone who would pay $120 for a stand (and there are probally people who would) then I would opt for a titanium stand instead of an aluminium stand, if it had a nice design and around the same price. If you also provide a nice finish then I would pay a little more for a titanium stand instead of an aluminium stand

I worry that the stand market wouldn't support such a pricey item, considering its function. I love quality stuff myself and even I am running the same old bent up stand I've had for (lterally) a dozen years. I'll buy a stand when I get a 2nd bike (unlikely) or when this one completely falls apart (10 more years, maybe?)
You get what ya pat for.

Go for it! Quality over Quantity all day.
Sell it for $199.
I don't know the true result you will find out with your research but off of my assumption I would think you would have to differentiate yourself in function or purpose. A stand is for either holding a bike in the pits for displaying it or on the work bench for working on it with either place being a medium for each of those functions. In the pits, you could garner more sales by designing a stand that offers either convenience in its purpose for minor work ability or function as in a display and advertising. Can you get people to buy your stand because it offers a place to display their sponsors in a better way than any other stand out there? I'll admit if you have a bling bike you should have a bling stand. But what is that segment of consumer in this motor sport? And who benefits from people seeing this bling? The team, the sponsor, the owner, the rider? Who is going to buy it? A team, a rider, an amateur, a pro? I don't think a weekend warrior. There is no doubt there is a market for it. There is a market for anything. But how big is that market? Define your prospected customer and take a look at the numbers. Keep in mind if you are going to wholesale it or direct retail it. Money it would take to attract customers, marketing ect. If your segement is small you need to make more margin in your sales to support the lack in numbers ect. I don't know the motorcycle industry but I would assume that if you can't make a 50% margin at wholesale prices, with minimal investment, I would leave it alone.
