I figured the synthetics with the API TC is all good enough, despite brand or cost. But this constant debate about ratio? I know people that run as low as 40:1, but at the same time I hear people actually poor 20:1 in their smokers, and I know the higher the rev, the less percentage as in oil migration time, like an engine would feel satisfied with 40:1 below 8000 rpm, but will demand more, so you can newer have the exact right amount, other than going for the higher demand.

But poring 20:1 into the gas, feels like I'm going to clog the spark plug. I remember testing this on my 80 1984, and the plug lasted for a couple of minutes...

Any input?

I was leaning towards something like that as well, maybe even 30:1?

Too much oil displaces the gas and will cause it to run lean. Ive always ran 32:1

I have run maxima 927 at 40:1 with 93 octane to reduce splooge and it has worked really good .

run what the oil manufacturer recommends. They have done extensive testing on their oil......not wives tails.....

Been using Golden Spectro @ 50:1 for 30+ years and have never had a motor blow. Replaced my YZ250's crank because I was feeling guilty at 2000+ hours.....and it was still in spec.

Oil ratio depends on three factors, the viscosity of the oil, and how the bike is ridden and the displacement of the engine. For the average Joe on a YZ125, the owner's manual recommended 32:1 with Yamalube R is the no-brainer. If you deviate from that oil, use the oil manufacturer's recommended ratio.

There are a lot of other ways to skin the cat, but note that Maxima never recommends higher than 32:1 for high rpm, small displacement engines.

I run Klotz r50 @ 40:1 w/92 pump fuel mixed half and half with 110 klotz race fuel and am thinking of running 45:1 to cut down on the splooge. Maybe its the Klotz? any thoughts?

Yamalube @ 32:1 in my YZ125.

I also use ringfree to the specs it says on the bottle. I have run it without and with and when doing a top end you can tell it burns cleaner with the ringfree. The ringfree I believe is made by Chevron which is similar to the techron they put in their fuel but at a different ratio.

I run 927 at 32-1 w/ 100 pump gas from local 76.... nothing sweeter then Castor/ 927 in the am !!!!

in my 05 RM 250, runs perfect, zero spooge. PC pipe, V3 reeds & new top end

** I heard back in the day, according to dyno's; made more ponys w/ more oil (20-32 to 1 ratio)

.

Lucas Oil Semi Synthetic pre-mix at 32:1 in all of our two strokes from our 50cc days to our current 125's & 250's.

Jet accordingly to whatever "oil" and "ratio" you go with. More oil (20:1) needs fatter jetting. Less oil (40:1) needs leaner jetting etc., etc.

Cant go wrong with 32:1 and it's easy to remember the mix-ratio 32:1 = 4 ounces of oil to 1 gallon fuel.

I ran Redline Kart oil @ 64:1(2oz per gal) for 10 years in my 125's with no oil related engine failures.

Where are you getting your gas and how much? I used 100LL from Cable Airport. Just switching from 100 street to 100LL made my CR250 a first kick starter when cold.

Has anyone run alchohol in a 125 recently? I remember back in Colorado in 83 or 84 one of the larger shops ran alchohol mixed with Blendzall, before the SRAC outlawed it. I was not part of that team, but bought an 83 YZ125 from them and ran alchohol in it.

It was quite a pain in the but as I remember, having to drain it from the tanks and get it out of the carbs right after using it. It was also hard to get the bike started in the cold, we improvised a system where we parked the bike by the running car exhaust and put a blanket over it to preheat the engine. I seem to remember that the jets were roughly twice the size that they needed to be for gasoline, and that in experimenting with the settings the shop seized an engine or two while they got it down.

It was a letdown going back to gas, not just from the decrease in performance, but that Blendzall/Alchohol smell was magical. What a cool smell that was. I've thought of trying that with an 06 YZ125 that I professionally practice on these days, just for shits and grins, but I have no earthly idea how to go about setting it up.

Maxima 927 with 100 octane unleaded at either 36:1 or 40:1 depending on ambient temp and elevation.

Tnx for keep posting lads, seems a majority suggests 32:1, nothing suggested on the bottle so that's what I mixed in the gas the other day, laziness prohibits me to change that. Grinning

Dr: Since we are living in Sweden be aware that Maxima doesn't like it below +2-5 celsius, it separates from the petrol and sinks to the bottom and creates a mess your sparkplug will not like. Recently experienced it. It even sais so on the bottle actually...should have rad the fucking manual...

In the sacramento area you can get sunoco SS100 at the pump. Its 8.39 a gallon. Pretty cheap and you dont have to worry about getting the amount just right.

I'm a bit ashamed, but I'm totally into the Biltema stuff, have no issues so far with any of their oils. For the CRF I use the MA2 full synthetic 10w-40, and now for the smoker I use their fully synthetic API TC, which should be enough standard?

Still they say shit about the freezing temp?

Well, I have been riding for a decade now, and always used oils according to the spec standards acquired in the manual, rather than popular brands people recommend...

I've used Belray H1R at 40:1 with 93 octane pump gas for some time now, in my 2005 RM250 with FMF exhaust and Vforce reeds. No spooge and runs like a scalded dog with no engine problems.

I run 40:1 in my 2006 YZ295. I am using Amsoil Dominator oil. I also had awesome luck with Amsoil in my sleds for years. Anyways I am running a 100LL mix with 114 race gas. I actually switched to straight race gas now. No real reason other then it smells sweet. Lol

Now my buddy runs 28:1 in his '06 YZ250. He runs oil from wal mart, and it has ran two seasons on this set up other then a new top end. It is a fully ported Henderson motor and thing runs sweet. He has no spooge as I dont either, but we are both Vet B riders (quasi fast) and ride decent. I would say in Sweden a 32:1/ 40:1 depending on your gas and jetting should be safe.
