Wholeheartedly agree. Cairoli has been the whipping boy for a lot of Americans not because of his GP results but because of his results of a one-off annual race. He has had the worst luck of any rider that I can remember and today he finally exorcised his demons. I hope he is partying his ass off right now. I am ashamed that so many of my fellow Americans have so little respect for motocrossers from all over the world. I hope that today has been a humbling experience for a lot of people who possess this sense of superiority. Cairoli and Herlings along with other members of the "non American" contingent served notice that anyone who throws a leg over a dirt bike deserves equal respect, regardless of their point of origin. As for me, I respect the hell out of anyone who can rip on a dirt bike. We need to remember that we as MX fans represent a very very small percentage of people worldwide and it only serves us positively to band together and enjoy and respect this great sport.

Tc rode great today as he usually does but without the bad luck from previous years, i bet he lays in bed tonight thinking about it and smiles then wakes up in the morning looking like the joker ,it will be a few days before he stops grinning and he deserves it.

His emotions after the race were fucking epic. Jumping off the bike and getting nuts with the crowd, you know that guy bleeds moto and being the best. I was screaming for Herlings to get him but he was like a rock.

He's always been a class act, multiple World Championships have not changed him a bit. He's become wise like Everts, only expend as much energy needed to win, you can get close like Jeffery but he's just dangling a carrot in front of you to make you ride over your head, you can look but don't touch, classic Everts strategy.

Tony rode like a veteran professional today. He knew by the end of the first lap what position Herlings was on the track. He also knew, and did just exactly what he needed to do to stay in front of the pack, knowing Herlings was coming, but that he had some time. Then, when Jeffery eventually did catch him, he had a little left in the tank for the last 3 laps. Brilliant!

I think one of his greatest skills is his race craft he always does just what he needs to do.. Herlings was coming and he just kept him where he wanted him... It might've had a bit to do with Herlings being completely stuffed haha but still I was so stoked he got the win

Also dude was gooone in those first few laps

Pure talent, what an amazing statement to just dominate like it was easy. Just a couple laps in he was gone, looked like he was riding in the wrong class at a local race or something.

And like others have said, his post race celebration was awesome! Great to see a rider show some emotion (in a good way) and just let it out....

Congratulations to AC- and Team Germany, you earned it. But next year.....

Not style wise so much, but tactic wise he reminds me a bit of Chad Reed. Sort of reminiscent of some of Chad's races with Dungey. 'You can catch me, but passing me is a different thing' I think he said. Damn, Reed vs AC over a season would be EPIC. Heck, AC in the Nationals for a season would be EPIC. I wish he'd do it. Some kind of Nationals only contract or something. He has nothing at all left to prove in the GPs, just records to chase.

Agreed. It was crazy how fast both Cairoli and Herlings were able to ride on that track. As others have said, Toni is one of the greats and a class act.

Of course, he has had some good moto's at the MXdN in the past, though.

I thought his reaction after the second race was cool, too. He was obviously pretty stoked to get the win. It is good to see riders showing some real emotion from time to time.

Anybody else remember the bad luck he had at the Budd’s Creek MXoN?

Customs impounded his bike and there were delays in getting it to the track. That, along with it being his first trip to the states, must have been a huge distraction. We definitely missed seeing TC on his “A” game that weekend.

I remember the bad luck very well.

However,the U.S. Customs thing was due to the Team.
They tried to smuggle wine & cheese illegally into the country - without saying anything lol. Smile
It delayed them receiving their crate(s).

Correct, it was because of the wine & cheese in the bike crates. I think it was at least 2 days before they finally got that mess straightened out…do you remember?

I don't recall the exact amount of days from when the crates reached the US til when they got them.
But I do recall them showing up at the track I believe late Friday afternoon ,if I'm not mistaken.
They pretty much put the bike together,got up the next day,rode practice then raced the qually's.
Not much pre-time for setup/bike prep I assume like they wanted.
