What a F'ing joke, sounds like Playstation 2, some posters on this board are pretending that Stewart this year is a totally different person than the one from the previous 3 years that raced and lost 4 AMA titles in a row to RC. Bubba may seem like a different rider, BUT! that's only because he doesn't have Carmichael to contend with anymore and is racing against the same guys who were whollowing over a minute behind RC and Stewart when they were out front running first and second. Twist and turn, bend and squeeze it as many times as you want, Bubba will always live in the Shadow of RC, because he had 4 chances to win an AMA title from RC and everytime he went home with Goose Eggs. HECK! he couldn't even win the title after Ricky handed the 2007 AMA MX title on a Silver platter, AFTER!! schooling Bubba for 5 overalls in a row. You probably won't see Stewart have crash this year, because he's simply on cruise control with the competition he's racing against, BUT! wait until someone like Villopoto starts catching up from behind, showing him a wheel and then passing him, then you'll see how quickly the riding over his head and crashing JS1 comes back. Enjoy and bask in this Bubba Sunshine, while it lasts, because Villopoto's going to start to rain on your parade in 2009.

I 100% agree with the joke of a JS.2! Its beyond comical. I said it 10 times today that he looks so smooth BECAUSE there is no RC or a rider capable of RC speed. He is cruising out there after the first 2 or 3 laps. Yet, you have members of this board telling me I am an idiot and do not know what I am talking about. I have been around the sport and riding and racing most of my life. I know motocross inside and out. I said before the season even started that it was going to be a yawner. All I read was "Noooooooooo, Alessi is going to take the Championship. Stewart will crash his brains out from the pressure Mikey is going to put on him". Yet, here we are Alessi is out (and that IS a bummer because he is riding well) and Stewart is perfect and had ZERO pressure. And a lot of the people who were saying Alessi would win are the same people telling me I do not know anything today.

So you guys are saying a top rider can't improve? James can't become a smoother, smarter, rider? He will always ride over his head because he did in the past? BS. Maybe Villopoto will rider over his head and make mistakes trying to run with James.

I'm still trying to figure out what the point is. James gets props from me because he was the only guy in 6 years who would race with RC and yes, he paid the price for that. Now he doesn't have RC to worry about and he can notch it back to 90% and win? Like RC notched it back and won from 02 through 05?

“Everything was going great at Southwick,” Stewart said after leading most of the first moto this past Sunday. “I had great lines through the turns and all of a sudden I switched them up. I don’t know why. Then Ricky came by me and I had three really bad laps and he was able to gap me. I then stayed even with him until the end when we had a little problem with our clutch and I stalled it” (James Stewart, excuse # 377).

“Did anyone see how fast Bubba was coming through the sweeper into the section with the tabletop along pit row?.... He looked like a roadracer coming through there. Unreal. He looks like he rides as fast as anyone could...then something yellow shows up behind him.” Moto East Mag

“A good smile can turn a prune back into an apricot” (gcw).

“As I’m watching Carmichael dismantle the world again week after week, never getting tired and always chalking it up to fitness, I’m thinking that maybe the guy is so good that anyone chasing him is gonna’ miss the mark by a long shot. Yes it’s tempting to say “Ricky wins so do what Ricky does and you’ll win.” But really, is it possible that maybe he’s just a freak of nature and it’s not possible to do what he does, and maybe doing it doesn’t help? I’ve said it before, Ricky has been killing it since he was on 60s, and I doubt it was because he was putting in more time on a Huffy than the other 8 year olds at the time. The dude is a freak and his records will never be duplicated, and you could line up Hercules against him on a motocross track and he would still win” (Jason Weigandt).

”I think Bubba was shocked at Mount Morris last year (2006). He got the holeshot and took off setting lap times 6 seconds faster than any laid down during practice. To his horror RC was right on his tail, gaining on him. By then it was too late.”

“You've either raced against or worked with the greatest riders who have ever lived: Joel Robert, Heikki Mikkola, Bob Hannah, Rick Johnson, Jean-Michel Bayle, Jeremy McGrath…. Where do you place Ricky among the giants?
Ricky is the most single-minded guy I have ever worked with. He is the most focused. Bayle was a very focused guy and very mental, but Bayle was more like, "Let's figure out the easiest way. We don't need to train so much during the week. Let's just play-ride and try to figure out the best way to save energy and win that way." With Ricky, it's all physical and dedication. I have never seen a person put so much focus on something and keep going. A person has to find a balance for himself. Not many people can go from morning to evening, day in and day out like Ricky. Bob Hannah was probably the most similar to Ricky, with a lot of willpower. He didn't always look the best in practice, but when it was race time, he was there. With Ricky, whether it's testing, training, or riding, he'll do whatever it takes” (Roger DeCoster).

Who did RC race from 02 - 05?

You gotta admit RC has some hardcore fans that just can't move on like he has.
James will beat the rest of the world for the next few years at MxoN , and when RV moves up we are going to be hella lucky as fans that we dont have to wait 3 yrs for some good front of the pack racing , again.
I can't wait to see RV JS battle its going to be awesome!
I will be beyond pissed if either goes SX only though... Smile

JS is the best right now, no question about it. I don't like to read about so and so moving up and whipping up on him...it just reminds me of all the hopefulls who were supposed to beat RC, and never did. I'm not a Bubba fan but I'm ready for the next few LONG seasons! LOL However, watching Bubba on an outdoor track is poetry in motion.

I don't see RV kicking Bubba's ass for a little while, if ever. If RV were riding his PC250, he might pressure him enough to force a mistake, but really, that's a moot point because it can't happen (except at Des Nations). So, who would win if both of them were riding 250Fs? That's the real question!

Funny you don't mention the outdoor race where JS 1.0 won the first moto and lead every lap the whole day except the last 2 , if it wasn't for a minor tip over RC wouldn't have lead a lap. Alden Baker was the last piece to the puzzle, RC knew this and will even admit he couldn't have stayed with JS service pack 2. Physically JS 2.0 even looks different than version 1.0, right now RC could train his ass off come back and he would have nothing for JS 2.0.

I don't care what anyone says James is a different rider this year, He rides with a clear mind set and it shows both in his speed and the way his body is positioned on the bike.

If you watch James he is much more in control and just doing what he has to do to win, He doesn't need to lap the field or win by 2 minutes.

The Fact that RC is retired shouldn't matter , James is racing who ever shows up, it's not his problem who retired or didn't race.

Regardless of any speculation concerning speed, I think JS is a smoother more focused racer this year. Moreover, (like RC said in a DMXS interview) I think RV's first year in the premier class will be a learning experience and will not best a healthy JS for the championship, IMO.

Grant Langston (current champ)
Ivan Tedesco
Mike Alessi

all on the sideline.

Especially Hepler, Townley, Langston & Alessi.

Honestly, who the hell cares? We can't prove whether or not Stewart is faster or smarter or whatever anyone wants to claim. In fact, we can't say RC was the fastest, either. We never saw him race head-to-head against a young MC, or a JMB, or a Bob Hannah, or a David Bailey, or a Roger DeCoster, or even a 2008 Stewart. Both sides of the fence in this argument are wrong.

Stewart's the fastest guy in MX right now. He's doing an amazing job, and it's fantastic to watch him do it.

Is JS in better shape this year? With Aldon in his corner I would hope so.

Does he have less competition to deal with? Yes.

If he is riding smoother and more relaxed it is due to a combination of the above two. ( Not his fault there's no one to race with. And there's no reason to think he hasn't learned from his crashing in the past, to ride smarter. )

Is the JS 2.0 bit a little gay? Well, for grown adults to carry on like that .... yes.

Todder, I'm not saying a rider can't improve, Heck! RC found another gear just from racing Stewart, it's just that I've just read on here some posters trying to diminish Ricky's accomplishments, by winning 4 AMA championships in a row against Stewart and saying things like, RC could never beat JS2 or Ricky retired, BECAUSE he knew James was faster and he wouldn't be able to beat him anymore. Carmichael always found another gear to win against the level of competition he was racing against. HAD! Stewart raised the bar, RC would have simply raised it further. Ricky was never particular great at Supercross, he was fast enough to win 5 AMA titles though. It was outdoors that he was known as the Goat for though. Out of 42 times they raced in moto's against each other outdoors from 2005 to 2007, Ricky won 37 times and Stewart won 5 times and NOW!! this JS2 is someone RC wouldn't be able to beat, I don't think so.

Seriously dude, I am a HUGE Stewart fan, but you are a complete joke. If RC was racing right now, he and James would be killing each other just like last year. Remember, RC had Aldon first. You think he forgot everything Aldon taught him? It would be a dog fight. Now please, shut the hell up with your JS.2 bs. It was funny, but now its annoying.

For fucks sake please stop comparing retired (by their choice) riders to the guys still busting ass every weekend racing. The current fastest riders are the BEST of the sport. The retired guys are history.
