>Even harder to find is a "factory" pipe, one thats not plated. I regret not buying a couple bills pipes about 18 months ago, but that was before I bought my 95.

DEP still makes a really nice unfinished pipe & silencer, certainly for the '95 (not sure about the '96). Other than the "DEP" stamped into the expansion chamber, it actually looks more factory than the PC pipe. I just bought the unfinished pipe/silencer combo for my '89 CR250 project and had them in my hands three days later. Top quality welds and stampings.

Small updates.

Well I pulled the covers off the CR today to do a couple of small updates. The graphics are taking forever unfortunately and I've had trouble finding motivation to do anything to it. So today I threw on the chain, frame guards and skid plate.

I even dragged it outside for a few photos. Man I really can't wait for the graphics so I can finish it off....

Nice work Col. I'm very quickly learning that Patience is key with these builds. 5 weeks I have had parts on order with powersports, and they still haven't left the U.S.

I've basically hit a brick wall until some deliveries arrive, and my powdercoating gets back. When my Rims and Davids parts arrive, I will be able to do a bit more.

Can I ask, why you actually need new graphics? I looks shit hot, just the way it is.

MC your Bike looks Awesome !!!! I just got a 93, and I'm going to restore mine to look like the 95 Factory bikes.
What brand of rear sprocket is that ?

Thanks Jim. The graphics I have are good, but not perfect. They were made by Kustom MX in Australia and they did a great job. But the red is late model red and not the nuclear red that was used in 95/96. The nuclear red is the same colour as the seat and front fender. Most graphics these days are digitally printed and thus the late model red can only be used. The graphics I am having made will be screen printed and therefore can be done in nuclear red. Not all graphics companies can do this.

Thank you. Good luck with the 95 restore. I actually had a 95 genuine Honda factory seat but sold it to a freind in the U.S who is also doing a 95 factory replica rebuild. The seat was the real deal.

The rear sprocket is an old school Renthal, the same sprocket they used in 95/96. I didn't think I would ever find one of these but a good guy in the U.S hooked me up with it. It was only slightly used but came up like new with some fine wet'n'dry.

I still say it needs a roost guard for the petcock in order to be correct.
You must be thinking of another bike. MC's never had one.

I don't think he ran it indoors. If you know what to look for it can be made out in some google images of the bike but when blown up they become too pixelated to really see the shape of it.

These two pics show the guard on the '95-'96 Factory Hondas. I wish I could find a bigger pic or maybe someone could blow these up with photoshop. It's a really trick piece that most people have forgotten about but at the time was one of those special things that really showed the attention to detail that went into the factory Honda.

Does anyone know if the '96 CR125 and '96 CR250 share the same linkage bearings?

Go to an online dealer such as Service Honda and look up the OEM parts for both bikes and compare them.

Anyone looking for Ti axles and a Ti swingarm pivot bolt (with Ti nuts) that would fit CR 125-250 '93-'96? PM me for details and what you think they are worth (what you would be willing to pay me for them).......I no longer have a need for them and looking to sell them. For new models, this set-up would go for $1100.......and these aren't easy to find Smile . Not looking to make a killing but not looking to give them away either. Thanks.

To share a bit 'bout my build, the frame and subframe are just being tidied up by an engineer (as there was a dodgy repair job on the bottom of the frame), then it's being sandblasted and powdercoated white.

Next, the engine... *gulp*

i had a similar situation with my frame.....looked like someone cased something extremely hard and the tubing was folded inward and bent.....and one of my peg mounts were bent. i had it all fixed....blasted and powdered.

if you ever have questions or need to get parts from the US just hit me up, i know this build like the back of my hand and work for a shop that can get just about anything thats available

Thanks!

I hit the rust with an array of abrasives, brillo, sand paper, scotch-brite, etc along with mineral spirits and WD-40. Done mostly by hand to eliminate any tooling marks.

I did some research, discovered he used OEM steel pegs! I guess that's why I'm buying!

He did use stocks at some races....ive seen other pics with Ti pegs......

personally im running IMS Pro Series on mine, im going to paint the polished part black so they dont stand out. I plan on riding the bike and the OEM pegs from that era are just way too skinny for my size 13 Fox Instinct boots

I'm not gonna ride mine, so I'll go with the black stock pegs (painted black).

I guess I'll get the gear shifter, too!

Light Speed makes a nice Titanium footpeg for these bikes.

Oh, those look nice!

Still, I'm gonna go with the OEM 'pegs, since they are accurate and a whole lot cheaper... not to mention, easier to find.

but stock is totally uncool....lol

Ti is the way to go, unfortunatly i have a 93 frame and Lightspeed does not make a peg for mine. i have heard that you can buy the YZ set and grind the pin at the base of the mount down to fit. at $199 its a big chance to take grinding down pegs, so i went the IMS Pro series route

On the bike im building i have alot of things that MC didnt have, but i dont really care because i think it looks way tricker

IE: Aluminum subframe, Carbon Fiber Clutch and Ignition covers. im not going to post any more pictures of mine for awhile because i might be having a magazine article done on my build

Hey Guys,.. first time poster over here,... but no stranger to BB's by any mean :D

I've been poring over this thread for about a week now,.. man is there some GREAT INFO AND PICS here!!!!!!!! cudo's for all the work and info you guys have sifted through and posted here!!!

I'm running a '93 CR250 and I'm going to be doing the McGrath/ Team Honda sudo replica thing - but it will be a rider not a show bike by any means. I've got an order placed with Throttle Jockey already but I need to get back with them on a couple of specifics such as name and what not. After reading the post about the color correct graphics being made up by another company,.. I'm wondering if I should hold off and go that route (?),.. I always thought it was kind of weird that on most of the McGrath replicas I've seen that the graphics didn't match the Flo Red front fender very well (???)

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I move forward in this project this winter,..and the guys over at the ATM forums have been more than helpfull over the past year pointing me in the right direction(s) towards this rebuild and just the bike in general (Thanks Dogger and guys if you're lurking here! - CamP too for some more info on the fork swap !!)

My '93 is going to be mostly a woods machine (Lots of riding done down at "Flat River" in Park Hills Mo.) ....

Thus far I've mostly been just getting it rideable .... New '99 Air Striker Carb, V3 Reeds, Kustom Kraft cylinder, suspension rebuilds/revalving/respringing,... stuff like that..

Thanks again guys for all of your hard work and dedication to "This" bike!!!!

I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't looked at a bike in years, but check the frame at the swingarm pivot. There should be a small hole drilled through the frame where the swingarm bolt slides through. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

As a thought, if you've recently repainted your frame, maybe it's possible that the hole might be filled with paint?
