I've ridden razor backs just like that in Smith Valley, but haven't ridden them like Shane Watts, that's for sure.

Wow.

Ever hit a rock with your back tire in a way that kicks your back end around so quickly you had no idea what or how it happened? That didn't look that rocky, but I'd be pretty nervous and thinking of that situation while riding that. He was flying. And, it sounds like he's riding the most fun bike on the planet (200).

I go to Taylor Park every year, and need to look this up on the way back.

Whackjob? He was my idol growing up, he was always very approachable and easy to get along with.

I reckon Shane Watts is one of the most under rated riders of all time
That was f*cken impressive.
Remember that time he won a round of Enduro on every bike KTM made?

He did a lot of amazing things - what about his days on a 125 killing everyone (after sleeping in the back of his box van the night before)? Killing everyone on a 200? I don't believe he lived to his potential - maybe this damn American lifestyle got to him; no idea.

I had a friend send me a link to this and checked to see if it had already been posted here before I did.

Worth a bump anyway....

Shane (and anybody else that does this is just nuts...

Injuries got him in the end, he was one of those guys who had most of the field beaten before they started. Swagging it in a box van, riding a different sized bike every week, all that stuff was part of his head game. When he was on he was nearly unbeatable. And is clearly still a psychopath on a bike, gotta love wattsy

Watts is still the only rider ever to win the ISDE overall on a 125, 1998. He may not have the number of championships some have, but without doubt Watts is one of the best off road racers ever, and a super good dude on top of it.

Didn't he try to race SX, got injured & he never fully got back up to his old speed.
Also remember Mike Kiedrowski got frustrated trying to beat him & ghost rode his bike at Wattsy, like what he did to Larocco.
Shane would have to be one of the greatest Australian off road riders of all time.

Ya know..I like riding trails and if we had decent coverage of XC racing there'd probably be more people interested in it....

We used to get GNCC racing (+ ATV's) on tv over here in Australia but have not seen it televised here for years. They prefer to show poker, darts or some other boring crap that isn't even sports, this on a sports channel.

Wattsy rules. Very happy he is still riding after his back injury a few years ago.

That was fkn awesome!!! when was about 16 I rode with a guy in his 40's who took me on rides in the Cascade Mtns...not as fast as SW was going but truly riding on ridges , side slopes and goat rails. We rode up to micro-wave towers and it took of two us to turn the bike around and then we had to ride down!!! We crossed trails that had washouts and you literally had to hold your breath and gas it ....totally focused on the trial ahead that was fifty feet ahead!!!!
