According to Matthes, Brayton back to JGR is "about done", and "should be a good fit for both parties".

Just coincidence that he said this the day after having J-bone on the show?

PMT link here

Brayton did seem to be a good fit at JGR. I hope he has a better 2013 than he has 2012.

Outdoors hasn't been great but he turned a corner in supercross this year. He was in the fight for second all the way to the last rnd and won a few heats. The blokes solid

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure his results were better at JGR than at Honda.

Did Honda not want him or did he go for the better money deal? With James out of the picture, you gotta believe that JGR had to have plenty of funds to lure Justin.

The way I see it, he went to Honda because he felt it was a step up....which logically would mean going back to JGR is a step down.

On the bright side, the best way for a "almost there but not quite" rider to shorten his career (in my opinion) is to jump from team to team. You eventually run out of teams. If Honda didn't want him, at least going back to JGR leaves plenty of options in the future should he have another so so year.

JGR is taking a step backwards it seems. I thought JGR was trying to stake a step forward and win races, not stay mid to top ten?

Oh well!

I heard there was an offer from Honda but it was one year... I think the jgr might be longer. Could be wrong though.

^^This. Not only that, but Justin loves North Carolina and still has a home there. His girlfriend is from there and again, the above statement is a big part of it. To those of you talking shit about "taking a step backwards"...or Hammertime's lame drivel...who is available for them to sign that's better? Who? Justin is a good fit there, a hard worker, and worth the investment for whoever signs him. Always been that way

I find it odd though that he hasn't been more competitive outdoors this season. He seems like an outdoor mx type of guy. Hard worker, good attitude, good shape. And especially after landing the factory Honda gig I would have thought his outdoor results would have been much better. He's actually been pretty much an afterthought out there in most of the races in my opinion.
Rember the days when guys who would go to factory Honda would immediately become unstopable. Good riders like David Bailey, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Stanton or Jeremy McGrath would sign on with big red and instantly become title winning machines. That certainly doesn't seem to be the case any more. In fact, with the exception of RC, Hondas results in the premiere class have not been that great since Roger left. Of course Suzuki was pretty much in the toilet when he got there and look what happened with them. A multidude of championships from RC, Reed and Dungey, that's what.
Wonder how things will work out at KTM. Pretty good so far I'd say. Will Honda ever be as dominant as they once were. A healthy Canard and a hungry Barcia could put them back on top. Although if RV can come back strong I can't see anybody beating him othe than himself through injury. These are the things I wonder about, on a slow day at the office.

Hey muGz.147, to answer your question.... "who is available for them to sign that's better"...

...RV's contract was up. Deano was looking for a ride. Pourcel wants to race in the USA. Why didn't JGR land any of those guys?

Answer: not everyone wants to ride for JGR. Honda is still Honda and to understand what that means go talk to Marty Smith, Pierre Karsmakers, Roger DeCoster, Jean-Michel Bayle, David Bailey, Johnny O'mara, Bob Hannah, Rick Johnson, Jeremy McGrath, Ricky Carmichael, Steve Lamson,....etc. Going just about anywhere from Factory Honda is a step back.

Not that it matters, but he looked so good on the Honda in that ONE gear. Easily one of the most stylish looking setups out of any gate.

Team Suzuki (btw, THIS is WHERE Roger made his TRUE IMPACT on the Sport)

Seems to me these Teams have MORE #1 Plates in the Last 20 years than your beloved little stroll thru the Way-Back Machine.

On the other-hand: It seems to me that Honda is rolling their sleeves up and building a Team like they did in the "Good-Old-Days"...

Well see...

Good move for Brayton. He rode well there. Rattray might be a good fit there too.

Let's remember that this is a guy who fractured his leg and KEPT GOING way back in San Diego. Along with that, he had a badly injured hand that bothered him well past Lakewood. Justin hasn't been 100% healthy for the majority of the year. In a world with a win now or go home mentality, I can see why many are writing him off....instant gratification reigns.

If true its a good signing for both parties. Brayton seemed to get along fine with the yamaha and Joe gibs gets a guy that can get in the top 5 when everyone is healthy and perhaps win heat races with everyone healthy.

Hes the best of the rest in sx, though his mx results have made everyone forget that.

Him and tckle will be a formidable team.

Hes had a couple good finishes this year in outdoors, I think he will step it up come '13 in SX. Love to see the guy up front. With Davi leaving JGR, they need a decent rider. Brayton is capable of winning, he just needs to get out front early. \

BTW what happened to Regal on JGR? I know he didnt do well but was it a temp deal or was he just let go?

Regal was let go...mutual decision from both parties.

Thought it was strange that he turned up on a Yamaha at Dilla though! His bikes are being built by Merge who he is comfortable with.

Oh? And only managing podiums in SX and sometimes 5-10 in Nats? What a looser! I would have given my left arm for his results back in the days.....Laughing

Justin doesn't complain about anything or tell people he is hurt even when he is, he is not the kind of guy who gives excuses. He is mentally strong and tells himself he is not hurt even when he is. Obviously he did something right for JGR to bring him back. And who's to say he doesn't like the JGR bike? He had a career high in supercross this year even with a broken leg, and did very well the year before on the JGR bikes. Justin is a smart dude and plans his moves; i wouldn't call it a step backwards in his career. JGR has had some learning curves as any new team has, but still i would consider being one of the elite teams to ride for and have one of the best built bikes. He had ups and downs this summer outdoors, but his career results are still on the way up. He is still improving year after year and only a grasp away from being in the mix for wins.
