Was lucky enough to catch Stewart's crash on video...was a GNARLY day.

MotoPixels has a TON of photo and video from today's race, so stay tuned!

....I even captured a small sequence of Weimer's crash

That was pretty ugly...had a little bit of a highside thing to it, too...

I thought he was leading when he crashed? If so, who are the first two guys going by?

2nd Moto crash. Looked like he was holding his wrist when he got up. Hopefully he sits out the next few and heals up for sx 13'

Poor guy... He must be over hittin the dirt, fuck he's taken some naps over the years...

I was one of the people that was saying the Yamaha wasn't helping, but not the cause.. Wonder if it is something to do with how James sets up a bike or rides, he still has just that fraction more speed than the others it seems, but goddam, he crashes, a lot.

He really needs to get off that POS, heavy bike. How's he supposed to stay off the dirt when they put the engine in the wrong way. Oh... Wait a minute...

Wow, dude was hauling through that section. Seems like he knew before the day even started his chances of getting through the day safe were slim. 2012 just needs to be over with, hopefully everyone has a safe season next year.

Looked like he took a different line than anyone else and cased just enough to cause a swap? That sucks though doesn't seem anything ever goes his way.

That track was brutal. The ruts created an unsafe atmosphere. Had to be real cautious out there. Lot of people high siding.

so bummed to see that...he was going sooo much faster than dungey through there...

he should be running a steering dampner...if he had the highspeed dampning cranked up he would have pulled that...

I respect James for trying to keep racing but I think its pretty obvious he is not 100% healed and needs to get himself healthy before he races again.

Appears he was following the racing line, just at a much quicker pace. Rythmn sections require timing as much as speed, and he mistimed his approach. It's a stellar way to close the gap, but leaves little room for error.

A classic example of how James can put 2 seconds a lap on second place. And a classic example of the risks in doing so.

His whole career has been about pushing the envelope. Thats the biggest reason he has so many fans. James can never be accused of "mailing it in". He going to go for it, but riding that way injured is a recipe for disaster. That spill he took in Denver looked bad and I believe he is still not recovered from it. I've been there..you wanna race and you tell everyone its ok and you even tell yourself its ok...but its not. The speed these guys go..you need to be healthy.

In all fairness, the past two bad crashes this summer are pretty explainable. Getting jacked up in a rut and coming up short on a braking bump before a jump, would likely cause anyone to crash on any machine.

His Yamaha did do some weird stuff on him and he obviously jives better with the yellow machine, but no bike is going to eliminate his personal expectation of winning every time he lines up to the gate.

Interesting to watch the technique from Dungey, Alessi and Stewart in that section. Maybe Stewart's rear shock wasn't optimal for what he was doing.

I like how everyone is claiming it is James' fault, not Yamaha's. We ALL can agree that he looks way better on the Suzuki. It is really clear that the Yamaha wasn't in James' favor.

Now, yes, he did crash by his own merit yesterday. Everyone on that track was taking huge risks to win. That track was f*cking gnar bro's. Seriously though, that was some rutted, jacked up straights at Unadilla yesterday. Yeah, James crashed. So did Dungey, Byrne, Weimer, and many more. That track was tough.

I know I don't ride or do anything at James/Dungey'Villopoto levels, but coming back after a long break is tough. Look, I hadn't played basketball in 5+ years. I recently decided to go play some pickup games at my local 24HR Fitness. Without any thought process, my competitiveness took over and I was diving all over the place like I was playing in the NBA Finals. I didn't even think about it, my body took over. It jumped right back into the mindset from yesteryear. I didn't severely injure myself, but I did end up with a tore up neck, a gym floor burn down the side of my leg, all for a W in a pickup game at the gym. I HATE losing. I may not win, but I DESPISE losing at any level on competition.

I am sure James is the same way. Actually, it is probably much, much worse for him. To take time off and try to go for the win on the gnarliest track of the season.... I can respect that. In a long and round-a-bout way, I have experienced the same kind of woes. Can we all just cut him some slack?

That track looked like one ugly, nasty, sketchy, POS. I would have been in prevent mode. The jump faces were shit. The ruts were enormous and the roost looked brutal.
