I posted on here last month about getting rid of my Kawi 250f and going back to the good ol two stroke. I picked up an 05 yz250 for $2500 here in Northern Cali and have slowly been waiting for parts to do my make over. Have to say I am very stoked with the outcome. The bike is amazing and I am having more fun than I have in awhile on the thing. Here are my before and after pics.

I was looking at the before pictures thinking 'what did they do to that bike!". I'm glad you resurrected the yz. Bike looks awesome! Good job. Now go find one for me to do that too!Smile
Man, I can't find shit up here in Montana. Everything I do find the seller is asking 1000 more than what its worth and basically just needs be pushed off a cliff anyways!
Once again, bike looks beautiful!

That's the same bike.....year and all that I had before the switch to 4-strokes. I loved that bike and if I was to ever switch back it would be to that same bike. Enjoy it!

Looks good. Just bought a YZ myself. If I were you I'd cut about 1-2" off the bottom of your side plates. It would look more up to date. Check over on the YZ 2 stroke area on thumpertalk to see pics.

That's a shame, two strokes are easy to come by here in Cali for pretty good prices if your willing to put some time, and of course $$$, into them

Stripped the whole bike down and went over it to make sure there was no cracks in the frame, missing bolts, bearings, etc. Then had the suspension completely re done by RaceTech. Other than that it was mainly cosmetic. The total makeover was roughly $400..app be it sponsor discounts helped a lot with keeping that number low.

I actually put the wrong brackets on the seat pan which made the rear of the seat rise up when tightening the back bolts. Sits flush with the right ones. I just couldn't wait to take pics of her and show everyone lol

but that thing is looking good.

i have an 01' that is in desperate need of some attention. i'm thinking of doing a full recovery, threads like this give me a semi

I've never ridden the steel frame YZ 2 strokes but I've heard nothing but good about them. My next project I'm looking at doing is an RM. Going to have to do some research to find the best year but I sure would love to build an RM like RC's 06.
