Rc just needs to show up on a bone-stock bike with bars.

Then somebody could claim a stocker after the race.

Claim rule is either 1 1/2 times or 2 times the cost of MSRP, nobody pays MSRP for a bike stock now, why would you want to claim Ricky's bike stock and pay $15,000.00??????

17k in parts. Plus msrp. You get a 6,000 discount roughly for claiming.

You take your forks and shock to your suspension guy and I don't see why they can't make it work for whatever is in those fork tubes.

Although RC is hefty. People may need to get lighter springs, or is that thing one of the trick springless fork set ups?

$17,066.37 + $8399k bike = $25465.37 bikes suggested retail costs

claim price $16,798

*i guess some money could be recouped selling stock parts to offset suggested retail costs.

I agree.

It's bushleague. Enjoy the fact that RC came out to race. Dont ruin the experience for him and make sure he never returns.

The parts are add on's. It isn't figured in the retail price of the bike. NADA, nor Kelly Blue book , where they get the retail of the bike being claimed, allows for retail worth being figured with add on's. Its not recoginzed.
So the cost for RC's bike would be $8664.50. Which is suggested retail for his bike plus 30% in Hurricane Mills, TN by KBB.

AMA Claiming Rule

G. Claiming
1. All sanctioned motocross and youth meets are claiming
meets. The claiming price shall be 30 percent over (50
percent over for Supermini) manufacturer’s suggested
retail price using the Black Book AMA Official Motorcycle
Value Guide, Kelly Blue Book or NADA appraisal guide
and include the complete motorcycle, supermini or
minicycle. Vintage- and ATV-class equipment shall be
excluded from the claiming rule.

2. *Any rider (claimant) may enter a claim for a
motorcycle, supermini or minicycle ridden in an event
in which the claimant has competed. A claimant may
enter a claim with the referee any time during the meet
but no later than 30 minutes after the race results of
the event in which the claimant has competed are
posted.
3. Cash, certified check or bank draft must accompany a
claim. The owner of the claimed motorcycle must
immediately deliver it intact, along with a clear title or bill of
sale.

4. If more than one claim is received for the same
motorcycle, the meet referee will hold a drawing to
determine the successful claimant.
5. If a rider whose motorcycle is claimed refuses to comply,
he must forfeit his trophy, is disqualified from the meet and
will be suspended for one year.
6. A rider may not enter a claim on his own equipment.

Why hasn't one of the other "factory" amateur bikes been claimed yet?

They have the same amount of money dumped into them with A-Kit suspension. Just because its RC's bike makes it even more absurd.

I mean really you couldn't sell it for the price you bought it for, nor could you sell the parts for what they really are worth.

I highly doubt anyone will try to to claim this bike.

yeah i get that, i figured 16,798 by using MSRP x 2 as that was the figure tossed out there....thats not price + addons. and i agree with your figures.

That is a straight up bone stock bike with pro circuit parts, ALL the bolts on the bike are oem, the suspension is nice and the engine may be a rocket ship but I doubt its anything besides a piston cam or port that anyone could buy, nostalgia claiming? Maybe but that's nowhere near a works bike, ill bet there are amateur bikes in the b class tricker than that bike its cool to see him race i wish I could watch the entire weeks of lorettas

Hmmm...........one thing about claiming I never quite understood was whether one can make a "claim" on someones bike after the first moto.....essentially ruining a guys week and giving him no bike to ride for that class.

I guess out of the times I've raced LL's there was never any claim drama.

If this is the case....I think its a loop hole that needs to be closed so you can only claim a bike after the third moto. Basically, someone could claim RC's bike and in effect DQ him.

has 30 minutes to present the claim after 3rd moto i believe. Can't claim someone out of the competition, their would be a lot of titles lost and a whole lot of claiming goin on, haha.

protest is different. that can be done at anytime (or after each moto).

So the other point is that you can claim the bike............but RC doesn't have to give it up.....he just gets DQ'ed from the final results.

yep u can only claim the bike after the last moto up to 30min. RC can refuse but he would be DQed and not able to race ama for one year.I have always wondered what would happen if someone claimed a bike with a lien on it. There r alot of people that took advantage of the 0% for 60 months. Also there will be more than 1 claim then it will be a drawing.

My guess is they have to provide a bill of sale and then use the claim money to pay off the lien.

I don't know how much stock I would take with that article. When they interviewed me at the World Mini's in 2005, they immediately took the tape recorder over to the Cobra pits and played it for Cobra and AC's dad to have a chance to dispute what I had to say. They also twisted several of my comments inm the printed article as well. The bottom line is claiming has a place in our sport. I received what I wanted from claiming AC's bike and honestly I think cheating as a whole at the national mini level has been better since then. To claim a bike to "get a deal on a cool bike" should be immediately followed by an ass whopping, but that's just my opinion ;-) Best of luck to RC at Loretta's!

72kiteboarder, my guess would be, if there's a loan on the bike, and you get a bill of sale without satisfaction from the bank. You risk repossession of the the bike, just as if you bought a car from someone with out the loan being paid. Similar to a quit clam deed.. You're not responsible for payment of the loan, but the bike belongs to the bank. Try getting your money back from the guy you claimed it from, after the bank takes the bike.

I guess claiming a bike with a lien is a bad idea. I wonder if there are any rules for something like this?

There are. You claim the bike, under the claim rule. So you get the bike with the title. A clean title means it's yours and you didn't steal it, doesn't mean there is no money owed on it. You can get the title to the bike, legally, but the bike can be taken back by the bank, if the loan isn't paid. So your out the money and the bike. Those are the rules.

You know RC likes a good brake , i remember an interview where he said the only thing keeping him from going faster was he didnt have enough brake .

Hi Todd

Your comment is a straight up lie. I didn't play the interview with you to the Cobra guys or to AC's dad. I did ask them questions based on the things you told me and I didn't twist anything you said. I ran your comments verbatim.

And your claim of Adam's bike and the circus act that followed changed nothing in amateur racing.

Have a nice day!

Well Chris I guess that would be the old he said she said thing from people I hold in higher regard than say a person such as yourself.

Circus? Sounds like someone is still upset that the Internet following of the truth recieved much more attention than crappy magazine coverage back in the day. The truth is that I doubt any factory or shop has gone to that level to build a bike that "different" than what the public can buy since then.

As far as lies who built the bike mr know it all? Your article has Bud saying he built it. Personally I think Bud it smarter than that. Yet I still have the treating email from PR2 claiming they built it. Someone is lying about it!

Have a nice evening,

the only thing that any racer can claim in order to beat RC isn't his bike, it'is his HEART.

Have a nice evening,
This is not a case of "he said, she said." It's you making stuff up about me, plain and simple. When I interviewed Bud and Sean there was no one else around...so no one could have told you anything. Same thing with Allan, no one was around when we talked either.

And...like I care what regard you hold me in.

The only legitimate way to have handled that whole situation would have been to protest the things "you knew" were illegal on Adam's bike. If they were found to be illegal during the tear down at the track by an AMA official, you would have been vindicated. But instead, you claimed the bike, had it in your possession for a week then tore it down in your little internet sideshow. It was meaningless and had zero credibility.
