My first good BMX was a mongoose. First good MX bike was a 1984 cr250r.
I also raced in Maryland during that time, campaigning a 79 CR250 in the C class. Big Berm, Antietam and Budds Creek. Antietam was my favorite, even though it was the site of my last Maryland race... crashed in the "whoops" and tweeked my fork beyond my ability to repair it. I also raced the grass track at Damascus once.
What class did you ride back then?
I had one of these except it was in red.
And now that we are in connection with the orginal creator of my favorite BMX bike ever. Maybe he can point us in the right direction so we can relive our past.
wink, wink @MX-Files

My first bike was a 1984 KX80. I worked doing things around the neighborhood etc to save up for one. It looked like this:
During my BMX era if you didn't have a Takara you wanted one. I got one finally but Haro took over the BMX world and I was racing a bike twice as heavy as the comp. aaaaah the good o'le days..lol
wanted the apple crate but could not talk my Dad into it so I ended up with a monstrous american flyer.
Owners at the bmx track wouldn't let me on it.
Dad wouldn't let me have a bike either but got a sears 2-seater for christmas.
Bought the TS-100 with paper route money and then did it on my new bike. A divorce got me it...lol!
20 bucks at your near by pawn shop
Good looking Dog BTW
The go kart was scary. I figured out where the governor was and put a string that I could pull to get a turbo like blast of power.
Here's my second bike. 14yr old in my first race and got a 6th. Pulled a sweet holey on it though.
I had several different mini bikes and motorcycles that we modified or stripped for dirt riding, but the 125 elsinore was my first true purpose built MX bike.
They were seriously bad ass when they came out, I can still remember the first time I saw and heard one on a track, they sounded different from anything else at the time. I had to have one..
ahh, good times, good memories...

Then I got one of these except mine was a loop tail. I had a lot of BMX bikes after this one but nothing I ever had jumped as well as this one I loved this bike.
I rode the wheels off some pretty shitty bmx bikes from Western Auto. One day my parents bought my two brothers and I a minibike from Sears. Rode the wheels off that thing and funny thing is I offerd to sell it to get a dirt bike and when the kid came knocking at the door to ask about it, my parents made me sell it. Worst day ever. A few days later they allowed me to buy the POS Yamaha GT 80 that ran for a couple of months until it couldn't go anymore and my parents wouldn't help to fix, it was my problem. I rode BMX all along and progressed on to a Mongoose with motomags and later a Supergoose. My dad went to work in Saudi Arabia when I was 13 and my job here was to dig out the pits at the local car wash for $100 a month. I saved for a few months and bought a 1982 KX80 behind my moms back and hid it in the shed for 4 months before she found it. I would tear up the streets and local fields when she would go off for a few hours. Good times for sure! I hit a growth spurt and quickly out grew it so I traded it for a chromoly Race Incorporated that was decked out, then later a GT proseries. I gave up on having a dirt bike and focused on BMX for a few years but still went to the local MX races with my uncles. Once I graduated and went to a few years of college and trade school I got a job and bought a truck and a 1988 CR125 on the same day. This was in 1990 and I have been riding/racing MX ever since on and have had about 12 different bikes during that time. I actually built up a bmx bike with all of my sons left over parts about 6 years ago and have started BMX ing again also with him. I wish I had the pictures to share as I really dig seeing all of the older bmx bikes.
First real BMX bike was a Kiwahara. It was a Frankenstein bike though with Redline handlebars, rotor bars, axle pegs, mongoose cranks and some other type seat post.
First dirt bike was a Mini-trail my dad got out of a lake in some guys front yard for $50 around '78
First moto bike was a 1980 YZ80. Dad bought two thrashed ones from a guy in our town and made one running bike out of them somewhere around 1983.
