We were standing there when Sipes came up short; glad to see that he walked away but never saw him race (anyone know if he is ok?). Two other guys right before Ryan also came up short, we had to walk away. I'm not there to see guys get hurt...

Way cool he didn't get hurt and waved to the crowd. But, I'm kinda curious why they made that landing so dangerous. I think the crowd would've rather seen it safe enough that pretty much any pro could pull it off.

in my opinion, if they dumb it down then everyone in every class will hit is and it will lose the technical factor.

look at supercross. far cry from the late 90's and early 00's regarding technicality

I hear that, but it only benefitted one 250 rider (and not that much, as he was killing it even without that jump), and when only some can jump an obstacle, it can create a hazard, especially with a jump like the Leap, where it's a blind jump when you're committed. I think the rest of that track is technical enough without adding the danger. Enough guys are getting hurt. Make the jumps safe and let the rest of the track separate the riders. It isn't like if that jump was made so everyone could clear it that the results would change substantially.

There is a big risk coming up short, no doubt about it. For the guys that make it clean every lap, that landing probably feels a lot softer than landing on something four feet high and flat as a wheelchair ramp.

The landing is way safer now then it was 5-8 years ago. It is a big ass jump, no room to fuck up for sure. These guys are pro and they know if they can handle it or not. It would be different if it was at a local track and you were hauling people out every race due to them getting hurt.
