This is why Europeans get annoyed at (a small minority) of US Motocross Fans.

Firstly, you obviously haven't seen Kegums in Latvia, probably one of the most badass sand tracks I have ever seen! Take a look and then tell us what you think. Elevation changes, and more picturesque than most tracks on the US circuit:

It will rotate around the countries that need it, and countries that can facilitate it (along with being easy to access). Look at the football (soccer) World Cup. It was in USA 1994, South Africa 2010, and is in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022; the European Championships are in Ukraine/Poland at the minute; all are not necessarily established footballing nations. The point is to boost the sport locally and provide a platform for it to take off. No-one "deserves" the race; if anyone does it's Australia/New Zealand.

At the end of the day it's 3 riders in America, and 40+ from Europe, with a few scattered around the World. Logistically where would make sense? As mentioned, why would FIM believe any more Americans will turn up to this than did to the last 2 USGPs? The atmosphere is better and the crowd are louder, hanging over the fences over here in Europe (not sitting in their loungers 20ft from the track with a coolbox). And before you ask, yes I have been to Nationals and a Supercross, 5 or 6 World Championship races and 7 or 8 MXoN.

It would be one of the most awesome things to go to a Nations race(cant remember if the "politically correct" term is MXON or MXdN and don't want to crucified) as an MX vacation. To be honest though. It would be more fun in Europe or the best would be Aussie for me. Always wanted to go there anyway. A nations race on the West coast is just as unattainable for me as one in Aussie or Europe so If I could pick one to go to it would def. be there, not here.

Or drunk and/or fighting everytime I've watched in the US, the atmosphere is incredible in Europe,it shouldn't be about money either, that's like saying the Olympic games should be in the USA or China all the time

There are a lot of places don't deserve the race,America doesn't deserve it any more than anywhere else,in fact they probably deserve it less.Youthstream took the GP to them and the attendance wasn't that great, there were some home riders there but most seemed to prefer to go practice for the outdoors instead of race,I can understand to am extent but don't quite see why at least 1 or 2 top 10 guys didn't do it which is a shame,it would have brought more fans in,then again Alessi raced the year before after coming off a race win the week before

Same Carlos (Eywa) shit again I see too...

seems to me it's deserved by a couple of things.
1. we are the nation with the most wins
2. the other nations which have been consistently competitive are actually closer to ANY european track than washougal is to budds creek

seems that what the race is about is competition, the best against the best, with consideration for the fairest playing field.

i feel for the Aussies, one of the factors which has held them back could very well been the distance they've had to travel, but their forefathers should've taken that into consideration before moving so damn'd far 'way.
and where the feck did half the americans start off from dumbass or do you think you are all descended from the indians

You're on a roll with stupid posts Kongols... first you get upset with one Dutch guy and call out the entire country, and now every American?

OP - The US doesn't "deserve" to host the MXDN more than anyone else. If anything, it makes more sense not to be hosted in the US - in terms of cost and attendance.

I haven't heard an official policy change from Youthstream, but a few years ago, they definitely had plans to try and build interest here. That included semi-regular visits for the MXoN, and a USGP (or two). After a couple bad years of attendance for the USGP (and no USGP on the calendar for the foreseeable future), I'd say it's safe to say they've scaled back their plans for the U.S.

Let's have the MXON at the track in Guadalajara, Mexico. Then Chad Reed and the other US riders won't have to suffer jet lag but it will still be neutral ground at an awesome facility.

watching the MXDN is 10x better in a foreign country, than it is, in your own backyard

besides, Budds had a good attendance, but Thunder Valley wasn't great... the uniqueness has worn off both from the American spectators standpoint, and from the Europeans who didn't bother to fly over. A third event, and the crowd would probably start to mimic the GH USGP's.... which would be stupid business move, considering Lommel is probably going to get 50k fans at it

you want to fly to an MXON, fly to Amsterdam this September...

Because Ameican imigration staff at the airport, that all visitors have to deal with, are the most unpleasant people on the planet. Tourists are made to feel as welcome as the plague.

do doubt mate, my people left out of england (and the monarchy) in the 1600's and made away for them selves in the bestest damn place... eh?

but before that my people came outta heikki mikkola's area to take your peoples women and spread the seed.

the point of all this is where should a race be? well france and gbr started all this crap and robert and decoster got them belgium folk mixed up in there. to make this a fair fight seems the comp ought to be put in the vicinity of where the best are living and working. that's euro against usa, that's the here and now, that's what we might call reality.

rolling to india or japan or aussieland, makes no sense. if they'd get up off their arses in mass like chad reed did, well then maybe... otherwise let's get together in some place making sense for the young men who will be holding up the nations honours and leave the rest fending for themselves.

Put it in Hawaii, and then the driving issue goes out the window, and everyone would want to go.

yea, what an advantage that'll be for them..... no flying and only one-hour time difference

that should please all the American fans as well, because they can also drive to that race... obviously Australia is still screwed but at least it's the same hemisphere

The MXdN is a business; any notion of "deserving," even a self serving one, is irrelevant. The venue that deserves it is the one willing to pay for it.

You'd think it would be in Japan sometime. I know they've had the GP there from time to time, and used to have some high profiule off-season SX races, but it's always been a bit curious to me that there hasn't seemed to be a more regular top tier presence in the homeland of most of the OEM's. Is MX just not as popular a motorsports discipline there?

i think that it is in Europe a bit to much at the moment, i think it really should be a 5 year cycle with 2 years in europe, then 1 year in the asia pacific region (NZ AUS and Japan, China Thailand etc) and then 2 years back in europe then a year in the America's (USA, Canada maybe Brazil)

but it has got like every other big event, it takes money to get it, I hope it does not go to a MIddle eastern Oil country and have bugger all people watching it,

A MXdN in europe i think something special, esp when your team is going well,

Look how MX struggles in the US to be anything more than a fringe sport. In the US it is big time mainstream compared to how absolutely fringe it is in Japan. National races In Japan are more small time than many local races in the states.

In Japan, dealerships almost never stock MX bikes. They are almost completely delivered from the factories to the dealers on a "built to order" basis only. And the window to order is very small, like 1 month. There are very few places to ride and the places they do have are generally very small and unimpressive compared to what we have in the states.
