strike that, what bestwick should have been told before today...

1. America has trees
2. 35+2 is hard, might get tired
3. 800 can't catch 5 just by 'going for it' (takes a little more than that there bestbitch)
4. lets see if a motocrosser can get called to call a football game...same difference (vert ramp vs. mx, hmmm...similar? nope)
5. not one guy on that track is 'lazy' so for a bike fairy to call any mx-er lazy and go so far as to name a corner after him is grounds for an ass-whooping tyler evans style...

any additions?

He's far from a dick. I have been a camper and an instructor at Camp Woodward and he is as down to earth as a human can get. I have not watched yesterday's race. He probably assumes that since he put in a full effort and raised to the top in the BMX World, that if motocross riders put forth the same effort, they will rise to the top too. RC has the same complex, since he worked hard and became the goat, but words things much nicer.

I thought he did a good job considering he is not a participant in the sport. That would be like us announcing a lacrosse event and trying to do it with passion. I would break out laughing.

Weege has to hold back because if he calls someone out he'll never get an interview for Racerx and Emig is loyal to Kawi and will never bag on one of their riders.... blah blah blah.... And I guarantee you we don't give 2 fucks what he thinks. Here let me tell you about riding a bicycle for 60 minutes even though I don't know shit about it. I don't think anyone in the industry should announce the races. Pro announcers like dave despain, larry mairers, etc did a great job. They could say anything about any team or rider with out being cast out. Yet never were. There is no inside scoop because "friends" announce the races. What do we get? We get inside jokes like "what is a stupid word that I dare you to work into the live broadcast" like el chupracabra. Baggot said he is over it. Weges response......"aint going to happen". Fuck that bush league shit.

Bingo. VitalMX constantly complains how alleged moto journalist walk on eggshells for fear of being exorcised from the community. So here's an outsider with nothing to lose, telling it like it is. The bit about "finish second, cook your dinner, job done" sums it up. And his comments concerning Rozcen folding under pressure are backed by results, not opinion or hersey.

We can complain that he's not "one of us", but fact is, as a professional athlete, he knows more about being "one of them" than most of us ever will. And while I don't have the marketing data, my wife (who has almost zero interest in MX) actually paid attention to today's broadcast for nearly 10 minutes! Mind you, Bestwick's accent did play a role, but her "man, that guy saw it coming" comment when Barcia and Baggett passed Rozcen demonstrated Jamie's potential impact on the non-core viewer.

Bestwick is probably more famous than Emig or Weege and will appeal to the youth watching the show. He knows enough about moto to be there and I don't think he or the tv people could give 2 shits about the know it alls who post in vital mx.

I thought he was pretty good,sure he's got a different accent,we vary a lot in the UK and he's more from the North of England,some of his words don't sound the same and an odd few may be new to some,but he spoke the whole way through without sounding like a parrot and seemed to bounce of the other guys ok too

It's pretty easy to criticize and pick up on a few things but I thought he came across well,you can hear that he loves the sport and knows a lot about it,personally I hope he's on again

Tell us how you really feel...wtf. I think the guy did a good job. I've said this before; it's called broadcasting...to a BROAD audience. There are probably 10x more people in the world that ride BMX bikes compared to people who ride motocross. Bestwick brings a lot of his fans and new mainstream viewers to the sport, and sells a lot of bikes and tickets which is good for everyone. Ever heard of the Alliance of Action Sports? Fuel TV? We're all cut from the same cloth.

The fact that they have Bestwick on there playing an "Emig" type roll is ridiculous. The guy was just reaching for comments to make and to stay relevant. Half the shit he said was either inaccurate, or really just did not make sense. If they really want him on there, then give him the roll of the person on the track doing the interviews, but to have a guy that has never raced motocross on a professional level giving expert analysis is just plain stupid. He annoyed me the entire time, and took away from the great commentary by Emig and Weege. I'm sure they were annoyed having to work with him as well.
