In my opinion, this is real simple gentlemen. If it's not yours, it belongs to some one else. If you take it without their permission, you are stealing it. You can always ask.

A family that steals together stays together, at least the first night till the judge sentences them.

As an adult? I'd hope most of us. It's very telling of the people who seem to think this type of behavior is excusable.

Stealing is wrong, so not excuseing it.

I saw someone steal the M from the Monster sign at Glen Helen a few years ago. Dude had a screw gun lol
Was that before or after you pulled up your black shorty socks and twisted your fox ball cap off to the side and climbed into the jacked up F150?

That shit has been going on forever, BFD, Just a FYI I just had a 3'x10' banner printed up for my shop for $ 35.00...........
Wow, the deal is probably called a misdemeanor. Since you don't value your banners, why not just ship it to me?

Here's a prime example of what multiple concussions can do to you.

Wear your helmet when you ride, kids. Don't let this happen to you.

Not at all. That was purely a free public safety message condoning helmet use.

Nice shot..................

In the past i gave away banners from our events......to those nice folks who would ask.

The other folks are stealing when they have been asked not to.

We had kids come try to tear banners off our retail displays at the end of races as we toook down the display.......seriously.

How many of you would pay $5 - $10 for a banner or 2 ??? Maybe a new revenue stream for promoters.

Couldn't agree more. The motocross industry has a hard time looking outside the box or realizing untapped sources of revenue--with the exception of a few great people--because of the compounded tunnel vision it gets from hiring from within (i.e. never any fresh perspectives because organizations hire b-level pros as marketing reps and brand managers). Either that, or we're just a bunch of vitards that have no business sticking our noses in the business of motocross insider affairs Wink Grinning

Long, long overdue.
Agree. I'm not paying an extra $40x4 for my kids to maybe get an autograph in the pits. No sucker found here. Oh and the banner thieves suck!

Excusable? Never as an adult or child. Neither is being a hypocrite of which I'm sure there's more than a few in this thread.

I was gonna say this too. I worked a few rounds in the past, the banners these dudes are snagging aint worth shit after the days done. they are stapled plastic to wood, no way you could re use them and not have them look like shit.

Edit: I left out that anyone who takes anything that doesn't belong to them are douche nozzles.

Just another crazy idea..........

This conversation came up years ago and i suggested it to a few people. At that time it was with a motive to help a former biz partner drum up some fresh business.

The license agreements would not be too complex and the distribution system is already in place.

I believe if it was announced that banners would be for sale throughout the day most good moto fans would not steal them.

I'll stop now....enough said. My nose does not belong in the business side of moto anymore.

Not crazy, you've made some sound points. Regardless of anyone's past, present, or current affiliation with motocross, good ideas can come from anywhere... especially from someone with proven experience such as your own.

you mean those things that are boarder the edge of the track, making it awesome viewing for the spectators? Maybe they could back em up off the track a couple feet, I guess they are a necessary evil, but damn they are annoying when you attend a race in person.

It was tradition growing up at the tweeny stage to swipe banners, my buddies shop is full. it was cool at the time but pretty immature for parents to be taking part.

Those dickheads wouldnt buy anything at the race's, they could care less if mx
even exsisted !! Bottom line, Its stealing, its teaching not just their kids but others
that its ok to steal, and even steal right out in the open where everyone can see
what they r doing. the problem is, is that mx is about 85% White trash hoosiers that
could care less about them selves l, much less anyone else.

copy and pasted this from the Rules page for the Budds Creek National.

WEEKEND RULES
We want you to have a fun and safe national weekend. Please abide by these simple rules:

Track Access Policy: The racetrack is OFF LIMITS AT ALL TIMES to all guests. Guests are not permitted to enter the racetrack for any purpose. DO NOT STEAL THE BANNERS! Guests are not permitted to take the banners—THIS IS DANGEROUS, especially when bikes are still on the track. Parents, you are responsible for your own children. Please do not let them take banners off the track. Adults, you should know better. Violators will be prosecuted. This prohibition will be strictly enforced.
