Reading the PR, there was a "massive" crowd at Hangtown. Just what is that?

And usually, when PR's are out, they kind of tell what the winner received.

Something like this I fabricated would be a bit informative:
"James Stewart was the overall winner at the Hangtown National in front of a massive crowd of 25,659 fans and took home the $25,000 1st place prize with moto scores of 1-1."

The biggest crowds I`ve witnessed was when these guy`s were racing. That`s 5 time WC Sergis/Rasmanis and when they were racing GP in Kegums there were 50`000 to 60`000 spectators annually.

2007 but who's counting? :-) You are correct, the crowd at Budd's was HUGE when speaking relatively about the crowds at a Budd's Creek national. I have never seen even close to the number of people who were there that weekend.

MXDN France and trust me when I say it was packed. This crowd lined the track on both sides. This pic is about 1/4 of one side. The fans are crazy drinking, screaming and chainsaws.....oh ya chainsaws. We drove all day and night from Oktoberfest in Munich and slept in the car. To say that it was an epic trip is an understatement.

A "massive" crowd is the definition for "the promoter made money".

Which is a good thing for everyone.

Agreed. And I didn't see any problems at all the whole weekend. No fighting or upset people. Maybe I was just lucky but it was the best national race I've ever been too.

washougal seems to get more and more packed every year. my first year there in 97 it was pretty chill and not that many people seemed to be there compared to todays national held there. anyone have numbers on the attendance of washougal? It would be cool to see the incline/decline of spectators each year.

They're talking US gallons, which are smaller than UK gallons.

Most Nationals pad there numbers but as dirt diggers we have to be careful, because we are at a state park and they get 10% of all revenue. Seems like we did get a good crowd and perfect weather!

So no one actually knows the number? I guess being mostly a cash business... secrets are a good thing.

Best Hangtown I have been to for sure. The "massive" sound system they brought in this year really added to the race day experience.

Ernee was impressive, but, the fans were basically all in one area looking at the track which ran up and down the hill in front of them. Still lots of people though.

At the Italian MXDN everyone was penned in to one area in front of the TV cameras so IMO it made the crowd look much bigger than it was.

This looks pretty big though:

So does this:
