I'm militantly against Luongo because his only concern is his own financial fortune and he's perfectly willing to throw the riders, the teams, the sponsors and the reputation of the sport into any environment that'll advance that fortune. IMO, he's a cancer on the sport and I would never go to any race that he is running, including the specific nationals that he is apparently co-managing with DC.

I'm just going by the information in the post. I have no idea how DC and Luongo could co-produce a portion of the National series, but if there's a buck to be made, Luongo is going to find a way to put it in his wallet.

Giuseppe did not attend the GP in Mexico, so it appears doubtful that he had a press conference to announce anything there.

F that place. It's a 3rd world country for sure.
Wasn't there an article online about this? I seem to recall reading about it or a similar incident.. guys riding.. came up on a shack/farm, first guy was shot.. other two came in and got the first guy & rode him out to first aide. Pretty crazy story. No way in HELL I would set foot in that country.

How the mexican people continue to allow this happening is beyond me. Why the Americans continue to allow this to fester so close to home escapes me.

Yeah...what our government should do is come up with a way to provide arms to one side to help tip the balance of power...

Even though I don't always agree with your point of view, I usually enjoy your responses because they are well thought out and very informed.

Considering your opinion of Luongo (which I would not argue with at all), I am surprised that you consider him a reliable source.

I would go with Sherwood on this matter until MX Sports has a press release to say something different..

Guess the pronunciation got changed somewhere along the way?
If any of you find this interesting:

Leib is the german word for "body" or "abdomen".

And it is pronunced a little different here in Germany.
The way it is pronunced in the USA, it would say "lovingly", "dear" or "kind" in german, which is the german word "lieb".

Do you know why Luongo and Srb was missing in action? Since they are very into "overseas" events they should have been there to enjoy the event. I think they should be ashamed of themselves since I suspect personal security was the reason for them not being there. The racing was ok in the end, but bringing the paddock to a warzone is not ok...especially when the general is to scared to be there to support the troops.

(Or maybe I'm totally wrong and they had important business to attend somewhere else...?)

There is never any progress in the drug war because the c i a uses drug profits to run their private army.

I obviously don't know enough about the bad elements there, I was just thinking this wouldn't take place without their consent, and despite their lack of moral, I just think they prefer ruling over something than nothing, and this means more something, and more money comes in which will end up in their pockets as well?

Or you think my thinking is totally off here?

Just from what I hear when I'm down there on the border, the drug cartels are interested only in total control of their territory, and while they may not respond against an event that paid them off, the amounts of money that they consider "real money" would stagger the mind. They wouldn't go out of their way for even a $100K bribe.

They might lay low since this is going to be a one-time deal that's here today and gone tomorrow, but there might be more bodies found, too. Those guys aren't fooling around. They're serious psychopathic killers who control tremendous amounts of money and power.

Don't think you are so safe Doc, they have already started to get into Europe and the only thing they understand is force.

There was a huge thread about it at Thumpertalk, and probably an article on some media at one point. Cameron Steele was instrumental in getting a helicopter flight to the hospital if I am correct, so he may have had something to do with the media involvement (although I really have no idea.)
The details sound like the same article you were reading; my friend got shot while opening a gate, two other friends got him out of there. They left my friend's bike there and rode him out on the back of one of the other guys' bikes. He couldn't hang on, so they let him ride himself, which he managed to do. Tough as nails!
