They need to cut the bull shit out about the 250f class being a development class.

If they want to add a development class then put them on slower bikes like 125's and limit what you can do to them.
I gotta agree with this statement 100%!

It used to be different when we had a 125cc and 250cc class......as the 125cc bike were a great stepping stone for the kids coming out of the mini ranks. We some how lost that step......now we take these kids strait off the 85cc bikes and slap them on a 40-45hp 250F! It's crazy when you think about it. Although the AM nationals have helped in some way "mature" the riders before they make the "pro" leap.......it would be cool to see a 125cc 2 stroke development class.

The 250 class is NOT! Those friggin' kids haul ass on them damn things. I believe a pro is a pro no matter what bike he rides. Some guys have the style that fit 450's and some that fit the 250's. Let them pick what they want to ride.

BTW.....when I say "125cc development class".....I'm not talking about LL's.....I'm taking nationals.

Whether it's in the rule books or not, it's common sense that the top class is the 450 class. Apparently a lot of you are confused because it doesn't specifically state that in the rule book. Both professional classes yes, but not the same level.
Honestly, according to the rest of the responses, you are the only one confused.....

It's not as if a Ryan Villopoto or James Stewart are dropping down, guys who would just wipe the floor with everyone. I consider Ivan more of a SX specialist also, so it's not as if he's doing it purely because he's glory hunting. He just wants to race, and get his career back on track after an unfortunate string of injuries.

Maybe they should split the lites Motocross into east and west ?
Maybe run it as Pro Am?

He's going to get his ass handed to him in the 250 class. WAY too many fast guys in that class

Wrong time to drop to the 250s , its more stacked than big boys class. He would have better results in the 450 class IMOWhistling

He won't even crack into the top ten! However, he will crack a bone within the first 6 Motos!! Mild Sauce is as brittle as they come.

If he destroyed IT's career then why did Ivan win Thundervalley on his factory Honda a few years back, as well as be a part of two winning MXdN teams for the US since the incident with James in Canada?

So Kawasaki moves a 250 guy to the 450s to fill in, and then moves a 450 guy (and former 450 winner who hasn't ridden 250s in years) back to the 250s? I guess contracts/sponsor obligations must have played a big role in these decisions too.

All this pointing out, young mans class, under 23 in gp's is nonsense.

Riders careers nowadays are 10-15 years with the development of training, recovery, bikes etc.

If a guy prefers riding the smaller bore then so be it. There is no sand bagging in either class. The top 10 are to good. Stewie and Villopoto would not go into the 250f class and dominate thats for sure. The top 5 in the lites can run with the top 5 in the 450's given some time to adapt to the big bike.

Who knows he may be getting used to the smaller bore as he fancies a shot on the KTM 350 and needs to get used to riding like that again. Or maybe he needs to get a season of outdoors under his belt on a bike that on't bite him as much, which means a fitter healthier IT. Then step back up on PC 450's in 2013. Whatever his reason Kudos to him for stepping into a stacked class with some very hungry fast young guys.

What I do know is that the top 5 in the lites clase will give him everything he can handle and more (more than likely).

Personally, I think this might be a great opportunity for Ivan. While he might not be winning the races, I think he will still be consitently toward the front. Hopefully he stays healthy all summer and I think it will actually help him get revitalized for SX next year. Riding a 250F requires a lot more aggression and that might just help him when he returns to a 450. I wish him the best of luck. One last thing. Would Mitch really put him on the team if he didn't trust that IT can get good results? I wouldn't think so.

We all know IT is dropping down to the 250's so he doesn't get torpedoed by the number 7 once again.

I kid... I kid...I actually like James, but someone had to say it. Smile

Has there been an actual announcement that he definitely is riding for Pro Circuit? Seems we could all be speculating for nothing.

Wonder what the numbers are of guys who race the 250sx and race the 250 outdoors?

Thinking outloud here, but wouldn't it cost more to race outdoors than sx? Meaning do away with the east and west sx and just make it one, like the 450s.

He pretty much confirmed it on Twitter. Didn't say exact words but said thanks to H & H for allowing him to take the outdoor deal.

Most of the 250 riders train on 450s anyway...and 250s have had better lap times than 450s several times on the same track and race. This is all marketing, and valid.

I think Ivan is going to do well once he gets going and after a few rounds. I talked a little with him on Saturday at the race and he just wants to race.... He raced a handful of times this year and I think his fitness will come quick after I've seen what kind of work he puts into his career. Lets not all forget this...... He is an outdoor national champ in the lites class with A LOT more experience then the kids and knows what it takes to win championshi[ps.....

Dont be a hard arse Mike..its true, IT had momentum going with his career which Bubba snuffed out much the same way he punted Prestons when he landed on him when he recklessly re-entering the track.

btw, please check your pm.

Enough of this BS. I hope Shift/ Fox sort it out so he wears fox gear. That way he'd automatically win the title. -- RC '99 swag!

I wish he could race both. These days I look at it like the 450s are the old Open Class and the 250s are the old 250 Class. Because some moran thought it was a good idea to kill the 125s. Dry

I don't think anybody will have a problem with IT running in the 250 class... unless he's a legitimate threat to win the title. Then we'll hear all kinds of stories about how it's unfair, etc

i would love to see more 450 riders drop down to make things more interesting, but still have 1st yr. 250 pro racers w/its own scoring.
even first year pro racers in 450 w/ its own scoring.

your body weight as a pro should indicate what cc class suits you best also.

I agree.

But..rules are rule and it's allowed. Doesn't mean everyone has to like it though.

I like Ivan. Love his style and he seems to have "fun" in practice. Just seems the injuries have curtailed him from being near the top.

My same thought goes for GP Champions coming and racing SXlites and 250 class.
