I loved my 2000 KX250, I always rode hondas before and swore I would never ride anything else... but when I switched to it is when I really started doing well, maybe because as others have stated that I really started to focus on suspension set up at the same time. Anyhoo, I loved that bike and would probably buy one today if I could!

I've never been more comfortable than I was on my 1983 YZ125. Gorr did the engine and it was great! It didn't win the shootouts back then, but for some reason I've never "gelled" with another bike like I did that one. That's why it is my avatar...

I rode plenty of bikes I liked, but that old 125K has a special place in my "gray matter"!

Several friends have liked bikes that others never could adjust to. What bike do you miss/appreciate most that gave you the best satisfaction?
I'd have to say the Dr. Scholls 450Ft...most comfortable bike ever made.

I love my '06 CRF450 it just flat works for me. On the flip side, I'm having a hell of a time adjusting to my new KX450! The CRF is still in the garage as my 15yr old is now on it. He may just find himself riding green if this new girl doesn't work out for me.

My 1995 KX250 and 2001 KX250 I had great times on.

My 04 CRF450 I got along with, but it wasn't until my 06 CRF450 where I gelled with the 4-strokes. That bike I still have today and it is still alot of fun!

96 CR 125. Maybe I had a 1 in a thousand bike that was special, but with a Pro Circuit shorty that bike had a bark like a full mod bike. I got a lot of holeshots at Kenworthys on that bike with a nearly full gate in the 125 B class.

I will say that I'm REALLY liking this new 2012 crf 250 though. Wink

2007 KX450, bike just worked perfect. because my 08 was stolen with 6 hrs on it the 07 was my practice / backup bike for 2 years. i was 3 to 7 seconds a lap faster on the 07 then my 09.

I hear that. I bought an 07 KX450F about 3 years ago and was immediately at home, blown away by the whole package. I have had 3 more 07 models and an 08 since then. I am always scanning craigslist for clean low hout 07-08 (preffer 07) KX450F's. I have no interest in going to the fuel injected model. I have ridden them plenty and will say the 07 has a harder hit and more lively feel. On top of that I know of at least two guys who had to drop a small fortune on new fuel pumps for their FI 450;s. screw that. there is no advantage to FI and potentially a major financial penalty
I'm going to have to 3rd the 07 KX450, best feeling bike I have ever owned. Right behind that is my 07 KX250f which I still own. No need for any newer bike when I still feel right at home on the 07's.

I once rode a 2006 rm125. It was slim and flickable and the front forks were godly. The motor screamed to the moon which i found fascinating. Rm125's are awesome.

My 2001 CR 125 purchased early 2002 from a local racer. Motor was good, Suspension was set up for him he would have been about 100 kilos compared to my 65~. Rear was ok, forks we're stiff. But other than that it was a great bike for me.

2001 RM125, I had a 2000 YZ125 before that which I loved, but when I got on the RM I realized what I was missing. More open rider compartment a great motor and suspension that started out way better then YZ (although the YZ was great after a revalve from Too Tech). I ended up buying a 2002 RM250 from a guy and had both bikes for a while, but at the time wasn't really good enough or big enough to ride a 250 well. Prefered the 125.

4 Stroke wise I'd say my 2006 KX250F. Easy to ride, didn't beat me up, and stayed in one piece, over two years and rebuilt the top end once, adjusted the valves twice. Although I did own it during a period when I didn't get to ride too much. It also did take a while to set up properly suspension and ergo wise, but once I got it dialed it was more comforable than the 2011 KX450F I have now.

Worst-2005 CR250R. Hands down. And it was all my fault. I bought it used and didn't take the time to rebuild it and set it up for me and paid for it. Should have torn it completely down repacked all bearings, along with replace some, change pads/bleed brakes, changed top-end and clutch, split cases and inspected, and had suspension set up or at least rebuilt, along with all the basics (tear down carb, thoroughly check for stripped bolts, deep cleaning, lube cables etc. etc) Intsead I sold the KX250F the same weekend (don't ask why...) and started riding the bike immediately, just to have to do all that stuff in-between rides. If I would have kept the kx250f I could have done that stuff all at once, and not missed a bunch of weekends of riding and eased the frustration. What's funny is I think the bike was finally close to dialed when I sold it, but at that point I was sick of it (not the way it rode, just the concept of it and the pain it caused). Anyway, I wish I still had it now, and I'm sure I'll end up doing a 2005-07 CR250R in the future. But I'll do it the right way.

Hands down it would have to be my 2001 CR250, riding it in my avatar. The motorcycle was confidence inspiring. Got it after returning from a nasty compound Tib/Fib. Returning to the two stroke from the YZ400F made me fall in love with riding again.

I'd like to find one and do a restore to glory, like I've seen some posts on here lately.

my 98 rm 125- i loved that bike! The conventional forks on the 98 suzuki's were fantastic in my opinion. I had some really good results on that bike. My 2006 rm 250 was a great bike aswel, probably the best 250 suzuki have ever made

Amen brother ! You had to race one to believe just how much faster it was than the other 250s and the full floater was so far ahead of its time its still better than what is out today. This bike took me from winning a moto here and there to going 1-1 on a regular basis.

'86 CR125, '88 KX250. The most out of these would have to be the KX. Even though it was a fat bike and I'm a fairly small guy (5'6"), it was easiest for me to ride. Weird

Believe it or not a 1992 KTM 250 SX. It had the perfect motor and super comfortable suspension for me anyway.

Me too only a couple people I know rode them. Darren Clifford and myself were the only two in our class and we battled because we were both out front on evert start .

Great Post! It is really cool read everyones opinion on this topic! In the 31 years of racing motocross...I have owned 22+ dirt bikes, and there are two of them that stick out in my mind that I really "gelled" with. Both happen to be 2-smoker 125s.

The first was my all time favorite....my 1987 Kawasaki KX-125. This bike had great low end torque, great handling and suspension, and flat out hauled ass! This was my last year in the "B" class, and I holeshot countless motos and won a lot of races including our Indiana State Championship on this dude. Hated to get rid of it!

No cracking on the mustache and mullet....it was 1987!!

My second "gel" bike was my 1996 Honda CR-125. This bike was so easy to ride fast, and it handled like a dream, awesome brakes, and had the last generation of really fast Honda 125 engines. I really loved this bike too!
