Found this gem on Craigslist and had to jump on it. The guy advertised that he will consider trades for guns so out of curiosity I contacted him. I gave him 2 rifles and some ammo for the bike and pulled it out of his barn. The bike is a 2006 but its near mint! This thing has all the paint on the casings and you can't find a nick on the wheels. He had about 7 other bikes on the barn and told me he rode it maybe 5 times around his back yard. Everything is stock but the rear sprocket which he changed to tame it down some. The only thing I am not a fan of is the polished frame but I will take it. Total cost......$1800. Not planning on selling it so I should get my money out of this one!

Nice find! I think some '06's had problems with the piston cracking. I'd look into upgrading that if nothing else.

Clean bike, wasn't it a 4 spd that year? What's funny though is your trade sounds all too familiar. I traded a Colt AR15, Maadi AK, Colt 10mm Delta Elite and about a thousand rounds of ammo for a toolbox when I was opening my business. It was a really big toolbox.

It is a 4 speed! That means that due to my lack of speed, it will be stuck in 2nd gear a lot!Grinning

The front brake line is routed behind the plate. You might check that out before you hit the triples.

Nice bike and smokin deal.

Sweet, thanks man!

I will be installing a new set of handlebars this week. I'll check the brake line, thanks "bigborefan".

My son brought a used 4 spd KX450 home from work at the bike shop one day to take out to the track for a demo ride. Of course I had to take a spin around the block on it. Started amazingly easy when cold and hauled ass. I can't see the need for something that crazy fast on a motocross track and can fully understand why the SX injury list is where it's at. I can get in enough trouble with a 125 or a 250F, have no need for an open class bike! At least on the tiddlers you can occasionally save it when shit starts going wrong. LOL Be careful out there.

I hear you man, I have another, smaller bike in case this one bites too hard. Wink

The 06' KX with the 4 speed kicks ass. One of my favorites.

If you hear a clicking from the engine-turn it off. I have a buddy that had one and he put two wrist pins in it after they broke. Luckily he caught it before it got bad, both times.

wow, super clean bike! But be careful, the 06 has a bad habit of grenading very early in life. Happened to a couple friends of mine as well......

I think the problem was the wrist pin. If I remember correctly the hot ticket was to replace the OEM Kawi wrist pin with an OEM Honda one.

Very nice... Had an 06 rmz450 with a 4 speed I regret selling. 3rd gear all day long.

Now load it up Saturday and come race the 030c gate at Oak Hill Sunday with some fellow old, slow farts.

Last Fall I went from 250sxf to 450xc, I think you'll enjoy the bigbore.

also the oil pickup screen plugged with gasket material over time. If i remember it had a real small pickup screen, easy to plug. this caused a very expensive grenade.

Depends if the MAK90 was preban or not. I'd probably keep the guns too although I did trade a Mossberg 835 for my daughters PW50.
