we're not saying they're bad bikes, because they're not, they're amazing bikes. and if you like it, then more power to you, that's great that you do. But a 12' 250sx is in my opinion a much better bike, granted its not near as easy to ride, but some people just don't like the way the power is on 2 strokes

but for the simplicity and pure fun 2 strokes are, you just can't beat them

the 02 and 03 are different bikes. The 03 is the basis for the bike a little man named Jimmy Stewart used to routinely yard 450s on in 04-05.

How do you explain that?

I wanted the 250 2 stroke but couldnt locate one. I love the 350. Its way easy to ride, especially for my out of shape butt. But i am still a 2 stroke guy at heart. Sorry for the hi jack Dan.

Personal experience on the transition from a 450 to a 250 2-stroke:

About a month ago I purchased a 2012 KTM 250SX. Did all the usual mods (e.g. suspension work, pipe/silencer, etc.) and started riding a 2-stroke again for the first time in 9 years. Man, it was amazing! It handles so well and feels like a toy compared to my 450. I was just loving this thing!

The transition was going well so I decided to race the Mammoth qualifier at Elsinore this past weekend. They don't allow 250 2 strokes in the 250F class so I entered the 450B class and got my ass handed to me. I got pulled so hard at the start, on the straights and up hills it felt like I had an anchor dragging behind the bike.

In defense of the 250SX, I'm 6'2" and weigh 200+ geared up so I gave away the weight advantage but it was a real eye-opener and gave me a new appreciation for my 450 (and, to a lesser extent, fuel injection). I'll keep riding my 250SX for fun but I'll never race it in the 450 class again.
