Quick update:
Bryce was accidently landed on by some riders at Pala yesterday at the TWMX race when he went down after a sketchy landing. Trevor Reis was also sent to the hospital with broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Bryce has two broken femurs, cracked pelvis(one part at ball and socket), cracked sacrum, broken arm (elbow) that was completely crushed with nerve impingement, broken sternum, and broken collarbone. Also a broken liver and kidney. (yes I said broken!)
The doc was very happy with the outcome of surgeries on the femurs and arm last night/this morning. Will be in ICU for a few days. Hospital for 10-14 days. (hoping for 10!) Will know more about what they will do about the cracked pelvis later today.
He needs rest to heal his injuries while in ICU, especially the organs. So if you want to get in touch with him, please send texts to his facebook or wherever else he can read them later. I am sure he will love to see them!
Thank you to all who have supported his mom through this tough time. She has been with him through every step of his moto career!
great kid from a great family. wishing you all the best mate.
cheers,
pip.
Prayers sent...
This is Bryce's dad, Mike. Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts. The surgeons operated on Bryce for 8 hours last night into this morning, repairing his shattered left elbow with plates and screws and inserting rods into both broken femers. His liver and kidney have stopped bleeding and his condition is stable but guarded. He will be in Intesive Care at Palomar Hosp in Escondido for several days and cannot see visitors until out of Intensive Care.
The doctors will evaluate the pelvic fractures and he may need additional surgeries in a few days. Bryce is strong and, all things condidered, is doing well. Thanks everyone and we'll keep you posted when he is well enough to accept visitors for those who would like to do so.
Lots of prayers for Bryce today.
