Thanks Camp for pointing that out. I still have yet to do a full season here in the US even on a small bike!! I have always felt loads better on the bigger bike!! It is hard to cmpare apples to oranges with the racing here versus there, especially when I went over there to ride a bike I had never raced a full season on to begin with.

What is the word over there. I even heard Short was talking about coming over to europe. Now that would be really cool.

I could imagine any rider going over there.... with a healthy Stewart there in no chance whatsoever of winning a championship MX or SX... why not go race where the competition is much closer....

This is the best topic in months. Way better than the J-Law bashing and argueing whether or not Dungy has a vagina. Two pro's chime in, in one thread?? Gotta be a record.

Any rider who is worried that they might never win a pro championship in the US because of RV and JS being so dominant can just come up to Canada and win our title- just like Paul Carpenter last year.

And oh yeah- the money's great! NOT! We'd be happy to see guy's like Jeff Alessi, Andrew Short and Sean Hamblin (who has ties to Canada) come up here to bring some new excitement to our series.

We do have one guy that is becoming really fast -Colton Facciotti, but the last guy we thought was really fast went to the US and got his ass handed to him-Dusty Klatt.

I am sure only ones that aren't doing good enough to get a good ride in America. Anyone that has a realistic chance to win in America will stay in America.

If I was a rider and I could make a comparable amount of money riding about 20 races in Europe as I could make riding 30 races in the states, I'd go for sure. Why wouldn't I? Especially if I really liked riding outdoors better to start with. And with the Euro/Dollar exchange rate, the pay gap has to be getting pretty close now.

Is it at all possible that riders/agents call Euro teams to get offers and in turn, use that as leverage for a deal here in the states? It's just as easy to sayTeam CAS will give me 100K, what will you give me. If a riders does not have many options on the table here, they might have to go get other offers outside US to keep from getting lowballed. Does that mean these guys actually want to go?

Do I really need to list them all. We all now who the riders are that currently have a chance to win here. (yes the list is short)

Just saying that top guys in America are likely going to stay in america. Guys in that gray area between top 5 finishes and mixing it up with low level privateers might be willing to take a ride in Europe if the money was right.

Tell the truth Geoff the Teams are not happy with it at all.

How do you go from paying start money to paying a Purse to paying nothing and now it's 10,000 Euro a year per rider to race ?

You got one hell of a set of rose colored glasses

I don't think guys ever got start money for the GP's. Start money is an incentive the promoter doesn't need to offer when the rider has to participate to get points. I remember it being an issue back in the 70's at least, and it was one (not the only) of the reasons the Euro guys started dropping the Trans AMA races here by the mid-70's, because the American riders had gotten better enough that purse money wasn't as guaranteed as it was in the early days when the Euros were dominating.

I imagine top guys still get pretty good start money for big international races these days.

"International Races" aren't GP's

That's the stuff many of the riders do in the off season, like Geneva, Bercy, Stuttgart, etc...

Well I'm not going to get back on the Us vs Them horse, I like GP's but they are not as rosey as Geoff likes to make them and his little bit of Mis information is classic fishing at it's best.

kind of funny how they are going to allow another 10 riders in each class now that they think they can collect 10K each from those guy's

I thought it was already perfect over there no issues ?

Not really, unless you consider 20 to 50K not big show up money. Sure the days of MC getting 100K for Bercy are over but trust me, the guys are still making some cash.

Stanton told me that he would double his salary in 3 months of doing Intl races, and this was when he was winning titles!

Thats what I am saying, the days of those guys showing and getting money like that are gone.

Andrew Short?? The Honda rider??? Ha ha ha. Like many, I wouldn't be surprised to see some privateers like JA going for it if the pay is good (and paid), or why not, even a legend like RC, going on a retiree-vacation doing some rounds. But Andrew Short is the last guy I would thought would even think of racing in Europe. Unless he commutes for every race.

The Euro (money) is strong but cost of life is also very high, so unless you're going camping and sharing your sleeping bag with your teammates, you're not going to bring that much back here.

Geoff at the moment Im not to be honest, I feel everything has happened for a reason and I am pretty excited to be back home. I just think its funny how my name was brought up now when things are going a bit better for myself and my results, then others take that as a thing to jump on to pump themselves up and look like they are more needed than they really are!! Just funny how it works!!

Sean,

A lot of people like you over here Sean, you will always be welcome. I think you might agree, American's are faster in America and euro's are faster in europe. Still, I think you would have done a lot better had you stayed on another year. You were also one of the few guys who wasn't hassled too much by the different cultures and I am sure your 07 visit has added to your already great life.

Big money? Sure it looks great on paper but what happens when you never get paid? Ask Mike Brown and Ryan Mills how that works out.......

I think anyone that wants to ride outdoors and not supercross or hasnt got a factory SX deal will want to ride GPs it is the premier outdoor series in the world right now... but the US guys need to realise its not the cakewalk that most fans think it is it is harder for them than a US national series imo. Only Hamblin and Brown have done decent in GPs... and all you guys said they were washed up when u seen their reults in the GPs and they go back and do awesome in the states...

its about 25 races all motocross

16 GPs next year (2 day riding) say 8 british championships and a couple of pre seasons

they race as much as the US guys but their season is shorter .... maybe thats why it isnt as aggresive 16 2x 35 minutes motos is pretty tough plus a national series of 30 minute motos.
