I have noticed watching some races in both classes that a few guys that line up on the starting gate have no desire to get a good start and hold back on purpose. It may be a skill level thing and just knowing they aren't as fast so they are fine with that and look more for experience.
One rider that really bugs me that just doesn't seem like he gives a shit is Jeff Alessi. I know he has talent but he seems like he doesn't really care much how he places.
Am I off on this?

I'd hold back too.

i'm sure they all are trying. looks can be deceiving.
You mean the same guy that finished 4th last weekend? When did a top 5 become "hangin at the back?"
His brother might have had his issues after a great start, but Mike put in a good ride. Does anyone watch races anymore? Or just make up what they think happend then post it on here??
Congrats on the holeshot Jeff.
You and every other guy that lines up every weekend deserve a ton of respect. IMHO
Keep up the good work Jeff. And sign a few of those holeshot Dallas pic's this weekend in Atl.
people giving props, instead of disrespecting.
Like I said in another thread, this forum is absolutely horrid when it comes to rider bashing. It's almost in every thread I go into, and the lack of disciplinary action from ANY moderators on this site is disappointing. Pure case right here...bashing this professional (or any for that matter), will shoo them away from participating on this site.
Goodluck to the rest of your race season, Jeff and thanks for taking the time to come here and post.

I guess I should think a little more before opening my mouth or otherwise I deserve a bashing. Jeff handed me a new asshole and I'll take it.
Don't get me wrong. I have unbelievable respect for pro riders no matter how they place. As a fan though, all I can go on is what I see and speculate on that. That speculation is something I will be careful about doing in the future since I don't know the whole story and mindset of the rider I may be bashing on.
Hey, we live and learn right. I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong and don't mind being called out. I'll be more cautious about what I say in the future especially when I don't know all the facts. I'm eating crow bad now but I deserve it.
Its like, " a real moto celebrity acknolodged us! Lets all tell him how awesome he is!"
LOL.
( tell me I'm wrong!
For me though I called out a specific person and it's pretty rare and cool that he defended himself. It's usually just the fans on here shooting the shit.
If Jeff didn't post and defend himself I wouldn't have known the situation. For me it opened my eyes that in the future I need to be careful before bashing any rider because we really never know the whole story or circumstance.
If Jeff wouldn't of said anything then I would be none the wiser. You see rider bashing every day on here and we never really think about what we are saying or know the whole story and don't expect that rider to ever read our posts or respond.
I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in this sport that I have been involved in much of my life and pretty open minded and educated so I feel pretty stupid right now and actually disappointed in myself and not just because he is Jeff Alessi.
