I have noticed watching some races in both classes that a few guys that line up on the starting gate have no desire to get a good start and hold back on purpose. It may be a skill level thing and just knowing they aren't as fast so they are fine with that and look more for experience.

One rider that really bugs me that just doesn't seem like he gives a shit is Jeff Alessi. I know he has talent but he seems like he doesn't really care much how he places.

Am I off on this?

I think 15-16 riders go into the main with the mindset that they are already beat.

Well all these riders have to start somewhere.. The supercross first turns have been real tight this year.

If I were out there and yanked a holeshot, I'd probably get landed on soon after.

I'd hold back too.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking. It's more of knowing that you don't have the speed so don't bother. Battle for 10th-20th place and let the other guys battle it out up front.

Jeff Alessi? Didn't he hit the first turn running second to his brother last weekend?

totally agree, but, I don't hate on most of them for it. If i were a professional rider, i'd try to milk it through the sx series, and try to make it to the outdoors without being bashed up. IMHO, mike alessi can hang at the back. Id much rather see him running top 5 outdoors

"IMHO, mike alessi can hang at the back."

You mean the same guy that finished 4th last weekend? When did a top 5 become "hangin at the back?"

His brother might have had his issues after a great start, but Mike put in a good ride. Does anyone watch races anymore? Or just make up what they think happend then post it on here??

You can shut up now, until you can race at this level your mouth shouldnt be running like wild fire. I sat on a couch from feb to just before October last year with 2 broken feet, then got back on a bike for a little over a month n then broke my wrist, then 3 days b4 a1 started riding again without testing, for the first 4 rounds my bike was set up for mike who is 40 pounds lighter then me, I'm getting my shit together and training n trying but my fitness is just starting to inch it's way back, I'm racing sx to find my fitness n my racing again, n I plan on motocross being where I do good. Till then I don't want to push it over what I have, if I only have 10 laps in me of high intensity then I'm not gonna force more out of me to be tired n crash. So f u if im bothering you making mains, come talk to me when your in it with me.

Well said Jeff!.....anyone who makes the night show in SX is fast. Making the main, and even coming in 20th is more than almost anyone on this forum could ever dream of. Keep up the good work Jeff.

There's not one guy on this board who could hang with you on a supercross or motocross track Jeff, not one. Most of em are complete fuck heads who have no idea what it takes to ride a bike around these tracks at the speed it takes to even make the main event.

You and every other guy that lines up every weekend deserve a ton of respect. IMHO

pre entry list is 74 I think and only 40 make the night show. Im impresses with anybody that gets to the night show. I know how fast all those guys are and them big *ss triples may look cool on TV but they are damn well scarey up close.

Let me get this straight. Level is catching shit for noticing something, mentioning it, then getting an explanation of why he noticed what he noticed? Was the FU for noticing it or mentioning it? I'm confused.

Jeff Alessi always been one of my favorites....... because he raced it out in the big boy class on that KTM at just sixteen as a rookie.

Keep up the good work Jeff. And sign a few of those holeshot Dallas pic's this weekend in Atl.

You no, I have tons of great friends that ride in the beginner class, novice class, all the way to guys that are pros in the top, I could care less about how they ride a bike. My respect goes to the person with some respect for the people they talk about. Who ever level is, he's an disrespectful prick! To say a racer that's raced since he was 4 doesn't care about his results is like over the top disrespectful. And I don't like it, so have some ******* respect. I have respect for everyone, even the racers I race with. I try hard, and I'm human who has a limit but everytime I hit that limit my limit increases for the next time, to all the supporters thank you, I try for y'all n I don't smile when my night ends 13 laps in. But it will get to 20 solid if I stay focused.

Awesome that Jeff pitched in and this thread took a complete 180* turn for the better...

people giving props, instead of disrespecting.

Like I said in another thread, this forum is absolutely horrid when it comes to rider bashing. It's almost in every thread I go into, and the lack of disciplinary action from ANY moderators on this site is disappointing. Pure case right here...bashing this professional (or any for that matter), will shoo them away from participating on this site.

Goodluck to the rest of your race season, Jeff and thanks for taking the time to come here and post.

I apologize for offending anybody and don't blame Jeff for being pissed at me. I was simply making an observation and chit chatting. Never said I was right.

I guess I should think a little more before opening my mouth or otherwise I deserve a bashing. Jeff handed me a new asshole and I'll take it.

Don't get me wrong. I have unbelievable respect for pro riders no matter how they place. As a fan though, all I can go on is what I see and speculate on that. That speculation is something I will be careful about doing in the future since I don't know the whole story and mindset of the rider I may be bashing on.

Hey, we live and learn right. I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong and don't mind being called out. I'll be more cautious about what I say in the future especially when I don't know all the facts. I'm eating crow bad now but I deserve it.

I think if you had just kept it with the first paragraph you would have been okay. I happen to agree that there are some riders out there that do it just so they can say they race the circuit and "know people". I know a few of those people in this business...lol

You may be right. Smile

For me though I called out a specific person and it's pretty rare and cool that he defended himself. It's usually just the fans on here shooting the shit.

If Jeff didn't post and defend himself I wouldn't have known the situation. For me it opened my eyes that in the future I need to be careful before bashing any rider because we really never know the whole story or circumstance.

If Jeff wouldn't of said anything then I would be none the wiser. You see rider bashing every day on here and we never really think about what we are saying or know the whole story and don't expect that rider to ever read our posts or respond.

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable in this sport that I have been involved in much of my life and pretty open minded and educated so I feel pretty stupid right now and actually disappointed in myself and not just because he is Jeff Alessi.

No disrespect to Jeff but thats just BS, there's some guys that post on here who have been in many main event races.
