that's a horrible list of injuries! I actually hope he retires after this. Millville last year and now this is one crasch to much for an intelligent guy in the 30's with a kid. He was really hauling in this race before the accident. Well, well...so many races, championship, careersand lifes we've seen injuries destroy. Get well Chad!

i have a feeling we wont see much more of chad on a track. im sure team twotwo will grow and produce some championships eventually but id bet this is the end for speedy. im bummed i didnt get to see him race in 2012. atl wont be the same

Well we'll probably know more once the PR comes out...

Like I said in another thread though, I think he'll be back for 1 more go at it... 1 more SX season at least. I just don't see him going out like this.

I agree. It sucks that he's out and there are even more injuries than anyone imagined, but I can't see him not looking at making a comeback in 2013, even if just for SX. Or if the extra time is needed, the Nationals. Even if just to do the tour and not necessarily be going for the title. Kinda like Jeff Ward did in his last year.

I certainly hope Roczen and Bambam can put on a good race because I have a feeling the 450 class is about to be a snoozer. Dungey off the pace, Stewie on the ground, Trey and Reed on the couch.....this season went to shit fast !!

Seriously though, best wishes out to all the injured heal up fast and come back strong.

NOW I think we can talk about a 22 replacement rider.

Why hang it up when he is still competitive? Its not like hes washed up like other guys out there trying to do it on their own.

He's not a young kid anymore, he has a family to think about now as well.

ACL is the only really serious injury. That other stuff could have been healed and ready to go in just 8 weeks w/ no residual effects.

The leg fracture sounds like a crack, not a break, and certainly not a displaced break.

Reed has been so on it lately. Really a joy to watch. This is such a shame.

As much of a fan as I am of reeds I do think he will retire .... It sucks and yes he is still competitive BUT its going to take at least a year and as mentioned he will be pushing to be ready for A1. Given the time and extent of his injuries I just dont see him busting his ass like he was before for 1 more year. Nobody wants to go out like that but sometimes it happens. Sadly I don't think we will see him race again especially if he was considering retiring before his team got together AND said he may or may not race next year. It's overwhelmingly stacked that he will walk away and I'm bummed he made this season exciting and I don't think anyone will touch rv from here on out.

So, which came first, the nose dive, or the boot getting caught in the peg (or shifter)?
I'm thinking if the boot got caught first and caused Chad to downshift, it would explain the nose dropping...

with the caliber of people on that team i dont see why he would need to babysit them every weekend. he can live his life and enjoy hitting a few rounds as team owner...kinda like mcgrath now

I would have to agree with you there. He had a great, great, great run. If he was at the start of his career then yes he would come back but he's at the end of it.

Time to call it. Plenty of young guns to provide us with some great racing. He will be missed just like all the others before him.

I'm actually pretty sad today thinking about it but he is lucky injuries weren't worse.

Damnit shit damnit. Heal up Reedy! I can feel his pain a little bit but Chad . I just tore my acl/pcl/meniscus all in one blow. I just got told I wouldn't be able to ride for 6 months to a year. Unfortunately with Reed, those other injuries might make recovery time longer Sad

450 class is going to be boring unless Stewart or Dungey pick up the pace.
