Just saw a photo with Trey upright and getting some steps in with a walker, but best of all, with a big smile on his face.

Fantastic!

Maybe I'm asking too much info here, but, the surgery was said to relieve some pressure on the spinal cord. Was it affecting normal/full use of his legs? Is that why the walker?

Just a concerned/curious fan here.

Hmm....must not have been Trey. He hardly ever smiles....

Good to hear Steve. We're pulling for him here that's for sure.

Thats a nice thing to see and his mom is right behind him.

the walker was mainly to help him get used to walking again after being flat since saturday, as well as help support the body since the back has such a big part in everything you do when you move. He never had a moment where anything stopped moving thank goodness.

That'd be the one.

Kari's in the bad spot. We all know about hospital gowns. Wink

Terry, I haven't heard anything like that. But I have had a couple surgeries where afterwards I'd get pretty woozy or unstable the first time I'd get out of bed.

Interesting. My wife broke her back in an accident. She didn't have surgery though, but was in a clamshell brace like that, (the guy that made the plaster mold said it was the prettiest one they had ever made).

Anyway, there was never any walker. I realize all injuries are different, and that's why I asked. I thought they must be trying to relieve some upper body weight/ downward pressure.

Great to see the smile!

Well.....without the benefit of specific knowledge, I'll hypothesize:

He has a fracture through the body of at least one vertebra. The screws/plates were placed to provide the necessary support until fracture healing occurs. No sensory or motor deficits have been noted, though there was some initial swelling that impinged on the cord enough to cause concern.

Even though he has no motor/sensory deficits, the walker is being used as a precaution. I doubt he wants to trip/stumble and stress the fracture(s) and hardware.

(Hope I didn't miss too bad Kari/Aaron!!)

I spent time in the hospital for broken pelvis, spent a month on my back and then took 2 weeks of trying to stand back up. Something about the equilibrium gets jacked up and causes you to pass out.

Get well soon Trey!!!!!

Didn't realize they plated/screwed anything, that makes sense, DrMark, thanks. Always curious and fascinated by this stuff.

No idea how this guy keeps getting up...

Can't wait to have ya back Trey, even if that means skipping ALL of the nationals, I speak for a majority of moto fans when I say the next time I see you on a bike, I want you damn well near 110%.

Best of luck.

As a parent myself, I cant even begin to imagine how it felt for his folks to see that crash happen. I freaked just watching it on TV. I can remember when my son had to go to the ER at Whitney from a crash, I was fit to be tied. I know its tough on him, but Trey will heal up, I just hope his parents are okay too.

Glad to see a smile on his face Smile

Have the doctors given you guys any kind of estimated recovery period? I thought I read somewhere that Mo would be back to 100% in time for the Nationals, so I'd have to think it'd be similar for Trey...
