My cousin sent this from California

These were taken on my way back from The Redwoods Run in Northern California on Father's day. This was a first for me. I've never seen anyone hit a bear on a motorcycle. This guy was doing about 65 when he rounded this long sweeper. A group before him had all managed to pass without an issue. This guy chose a path that ended up being exactly where the bear decided to depart the area. It appeared that he nailed the bear in the head as he stayed on and with the bike for the approx 1/8 mile slide into the oncoming lanes and into this ditch. He had an apparent broken foot and some minor road rash and some sore ribs but one lucky SOB. He got one of the canines as a souvenir. I kept wondering is we were sure the bear wasn't just knocked out during the picture session, lol. A truly beautiful animal, it was a shame it had to go this way but that's life. I'm sure some lucky fish and game guy got the bear and will share it on the 4th of July.
Joey

My cus is the one in the pic with the bear, he's toured with Kansas, Boston and Pat Travers.

A few years back kinda the same thing in town. A girl was riding her bike down the street. It was early morning, she was going to work. A bear bolted out of the trees and she hit it. Put her over the bars. Scraped up to say the least. The bear got up bolted back into the trees.

Irony, she was a Forest Ranger for the USDA. I wonder if the bear was trying to get back at her?

I knew a guy who had a Gold Wing with trailer...He had a deer run out and centerpunch him. There was fur down the side of the whole thing, but he didn't crash. Dunno about the deer.

I hit a deer on my R6 a few years back, totaled the bike and put me in ICU for 2 weeks...not fun! Wish the dude all the best and a speedy recovery.

Why did you post that Crash? Poor freaken bear murdered by a squid who probably doesn't know how to use his FRONT "it will make me crash" BRAKE, like 90% of Harley riders.

Just look at that bike, it's a POS I'm surprised it doesn't have "Ape Hangers"...

I'm an animal lover, and always hate to see innocent animals killed by man no matter the reason.

The dude holding his head acts like he's some trophy game hunter and just got his "kill" after hunting him down. I don't get it and never will.

The other riders had no problem avoiding the bear until squidboy rolled thru...

btw I don't find the post "interesting". Sad yes, intersting no....

How could you possibly have any idea the circumstances of that crash? How do you know the guys a squid? By the looks of your photos you are just as much of a squid as he looks to be if thats what you are going off of.

Sucks the bear got killed for sure but bashing this guy saying it's his fault is laughable.

I HATE the trophy hunter thing... seriously. I am having a hard time cheering for RV this year after it came out he is so militant about it. I grew up in the southeast and Texas and I must be one of the only people I know that doesn't even like guns... so I got you on that point.

I'm just saying that squidboy probably had no way to avoid it... but really, we are talking hypothetically.

I saw an episode of Judge Judy recently (am I setting myself up for some bagging?) and this dude was test riding a motorcycle another guy was selling. He said he came up to a stop with gravel in the road so he hit his back brake and the motorcycle didn't slow down. He thought it surely must be the brakes that were bad and was trying to get money from the guy who's bike he just crashed. What an idiot!

ummm look at his bike it's a rusted out POS, no front fender, crappy shocks and stupid handlebars. If you can't figure it out then maybe I should buy you a clue.

btw I'm 50yrs old, sorry my pics aren't up to you're standards but i've been riding probably longer than you have been wasting air....

jesus-

the guy couldn't freaking stop and hit the damn thing. isn't like he waited for it, and pinned it.

Is Albertyn a tool for hitting a deer in the MXDN?

Comparing Albertyn racing to this SQUID is Ludicrous.

Guess you can't figure out (or at least get a good idea) a rider by the equipment he rides huh?
Sure he didn't plan it, but then they havta make a show of it and rip out one of his teeth, that says a lot about them...

I take it you guys don't know many Hardley posers do ya? lol

X10 G-man.....

I own a body shop and them people keep me real busy!!!!!!

Last month, a friend of mine left the tavern across the street from me. He was tryin' to impress us at the shop and all his buddies at the bar and took off like a bat out of hell. He was flyin'!!! Not more than a block away a car pulled out of the gas station, He left 50 feet of skid mark's before ramming the car.. Him and his wife are still in the hospital!! He never touched the front brake!!!

I restored an old Electra Glide a few month's ago.. The guy said he could back it out of the shop himself.(I take ALL vehicles out myself) (Just safer) He walked it backward's out to the driveway,(Flat ground), Grabbed a handfull of front brake, wabbled and dropped it.. He said he didn't know the brake was that "touchy"... I asked if he had ever used the brake before and he said no!!! I politely told him about MSF!!

Another friend hit a cow last year! He was comming over a hill and looking to the left at the sunset. As he looked back forward, He saw and hit the cow. Totaled his bike, Him and his Wife had severe road rash!!!

Every day people leave the bar like a bat out of hell. They keep it pinned through first second and third gear, only to have to slow down cause their doing a buck something! Doesen't matter, Harley or Rocket, People that have never ridin' are buyin' bike's and not payin' attintion! Should be a law to take MSF classes!!

If you think you have the ability to decide if this guy is a tool that can't ride just by his bike, the you are genuinely the tool here.

you don't know any of the circumstances.

what you do know is a cliff notes version of a guy that hit a bear on the road. no more no less.

An animal was in the road it got hit...... Here let me call you a wwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmbbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuullllllllaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnccccccccccccceeeeeeeeee!

Joey is my cousin and a really good hearted cool guy, he actually looked more like Robert Plant back in his band days. My cousin was probably riding a show bike. Was he not supposed to ride with the other guy because his bike was not up to your standards? What would you have done? Protested the guy for rust? From what the email said, it looks as if the bear ran in front of the bike, I doubt the guy wanted to hit it. Of course this is all common sense stuff and that's a problem area for you. The bike had just been crashed at speed, should we protest the bike for not holding up?

Nice bear . In Colorado road kill is the property of whom ever hit and killed it . I have had some really good road kill elk a few times.
